Syracuse football adjusts offseason workouts to prepare for George McDonald's no-huddle offense (PS)

Good article. Glad to see some flickers of competence here and there with the sportswriters at the PS.

"Traditionally, Hicks has used a rest-work ratio of 3 to 1 for his workouts, meaning players spend three times as long allowing their body to recover between repetitions as each exercise takes. It's a common ratio for power lifters looking to build toward one-time maximum lifts."

That is a welcome change, I think. I get needing to get big, i don't want them doing crossfit year round or anything stupid like that, but we don't want powerlifters either

Gerg went with a 100 to 1 ratio so anything is progress

Absolutely a great move. Should have been done years ago, to be honest with you. Disappointing to hear our S&C staff took this long to implement changes. And while football staff has input, if a S&C coach is worth his salary he'd be looking at trends across his profession and suggesting these types of changes to remain ahead of the curve.
