Syracuse gets record payout from ACC, which still lags behind other P-5 conferences

Are you forgetting when the Big East sent 5 teams to the elite 8 or 3 to the final four? The 2004 UConn team we couldn't beat was every bit as good as the Duke teams we've played since joining the ACC and UConn beat a favored Duke team in '99 for the NC. We were only the 4th best team in the Big East in '96 when we gave that loaded Kentucky team all it wanted in the final. The Big East was always tough top to bottom whereas the ACC has always been and still probably is more top heavy, if less so than pre-expansion. Don't become a victim of the moment and short change the old Big East simply because we aren't there anymore.

That's 100% fair.

I don't think there's any doubt about football though.

that is good pay out for us. however, it will never be enough. su will always claim poverty and MAYBE, it may be valid. personally i would rather see them put the money into building major league research capabilities(there is money in this), getting suny medical school back under su administration, improving the academic standards and improving the law school ranking as it is deplorable

Improve the law school ranking by dumping a bunch of money into the program, possibly by building brand new facilities?

The athletic department makes more money by far than it ever has, yet the major sports teams are more mediocre than they have been in 30+ years.
Football is clearly on the upswing, and basketball is recovering from sanctions. Both will improve soon (basketball could even be very good next year), and the new Done will turbocharge both programs.

Olympics are stronger than ever.

Lacrosse is soft, but that’s not due to underinvestment.
