Awful. What was it a one minute highlight reel that showed one brief clip of the Michigan game and didn't show the 50-yd run against Miami or the VT throwback? On and off the field in 5 minutes...and DJ Maestro had to fill at least 3 minutes before the teams came back on the field.

The gameday experience is brutal. Brutal.

Since the retirement ceremonies are rare events, you would think they could tell the band to take a week off. I'm not anti-band, but I am anti-embarrassment for the school. Do things right or don't do them.

Also, halftime is a pretty bad time to do them anyway. People are running for beer, urinals, hot dogs, etc. No one is paying attention.

They don't do anything right, in these regards. Is anyone surprised? That's exactly how we all knew it would be. Awful.

Reminds me of the Academy Awards where they do a 1 minute video clip of the Tech Awards that were done a week prior to the Academy Awards ceremony. Gives the celebs a quick moment to hit the bathrooms.

I'll be that guy, I can't stand the band. Never have.

It was embarrassing. It really was. The "video package" was downright awful. I mean there are a ton of highlights to show and I am not sure we saw any. I don't need the deep voiced guy giving me the "wikipedia rundown" of his career. I am pretty sure everyone there knows who he is and what we did!!! It sucked. Not every day we get McNabb back here and I felt like it was a wasted moment. He should have been out there for the coin toss. He should have been given a proper halftime ceremony. I don't know. Not surprised by it but disappointed.

Eileen Edsall was one of the Letter Winners of Distinction today (along with Monk and others).

Her husband HCRE was in the house today.

It's against NCAA regulations for him to watch us play, so the ceremony had to take place before the game started, instead of halftime.

OK looks like I wasn't the only one let down by the "ceremony"

It was pretty lame.

To get it right would take all of 4 phone calls.

1. To Steiner to ask him to ask the Yankees for help
2. Him calling the Yankees to ak who runs their ceremonies and can the Syracuse guy call?
3. Steiner calling back to Syracuse.
4. Syracuse calling the Yankees and asking for help.

Done.

At best the Yankees would say 'you've only got a few minutes? Call the Giants, they've got a template for that.' So Steiner would have to make 1 extra call.

Not that difficult. Syracuse is not an independent minor league team in podunk north dakota...

Helll, skip Steiner...call directly.

I read the whole thing. I wasn't saying OX is wrong (he cant ever be wrong, hes a red ram). I was saying thats the worst rule in the history of intercollegiate athletics.

plus they are the most generic catalog order jerseys I have seen. how many schools use these

atleast put in a close replica of a jersey

That's pretty frigging sad.

McNabb is modern Syracuse football. The video montage should have been a no-brainer.

The jersey didn't even look like it was from the right time period.

The jerseys they hang up are pretty ugly. Especially the big 44, it looks like it's made of posterboard.

Before a game is worse. Nobody is in their seats. I remember when they did the All-Century team in 1989. They had guys flown in from all over the country- and introduced them before a game against Temple when maybe a a couple thousand people were actually in their seats.

Donovan should have a ride around the Dome in a golf cart.

You can say what you want about Syracuse and their 'jersey retirement ceremonies', but you should
capitalize the A in America. Seeing who started this thread, I will blame the PBR. ;) Ok, carry on.
