I still love a good Mich Light

Before a game is worse. Nobody is in their seats. I remember when they did the All-Century team in 1989. They had guys flown in from all over the country- and introduced them before a game against Temple when maybe a a couple thousand people were actually in their seats.

Donovan should have a ride around the Dome in a golf cart.
All it takes for both, pre-game or halftime is an engaged fan base.

in the last 5 years the Giants have done both 2x. 2 pre game Lombardi Celebrations and 2 halftime Ring of Honor Celebrations. So you have 2 with a captured audience and 2 where the onus is on the drunks to leave the tailgate early to get their seats. And I got to say, I like the pre games better. Both times we got 82500 people to put down their sausages and beers, wait in line for 20 minutes to get strip searched, take a leak...and then get to your arse holder on time. The excitement and anticipation of both is off the charts.

You put both teams on the field. Put on a tribute video on the jumbos. put a camera on McNabb in the locker room, follow him down the tunnel. The 49k who should be there should now be in a deafening roar as he runs outonto the field to waiting friends and family. Give Gross 30seconds, drop the cloth off the jersey, give Don 90 seconds, let him stay for the coin toss. Done.

Hopefully now with an emotional advantage over the opponent.

Simple stuff.

And I'm just a piddly wall st guy drinking away the cobwebs with a memosa, not a somebody who's job for however long and for the 4 months leading up to this...was to come up with something.

my mom used to throw tupperware parties - she applied for the job of doing these ceremonies- they said she was over qualified couchburn

The jerseys they hang up are pretty ugly. Especially the big 44, it looks like it's made of posterboard.

I agree. The big jerseys look like glossy white tarps, because, well, they are glossy white tarps. They should be made of cloth.

The 49k in their seats pre-game is never gonna happen. It wouldn't elsewhere either. Maybe at a few schools where alumni are all in on their football program and come back in droves each game.

Don't forget the games scheduled in MetLife or the university's tendency to build new academic buildings on campus.

Problems we didn't have just 15 years ago when 49k were in their seats for kickoff for at least 3 games.

Halftime makes sense, but I don't remember hearing an announcement yesterday saying that it was coming up. I had my son with me yesterday so it's possible I missed it. Why didn't they let the band play first and then have the ceremony with 5/6 minutes to go? No offense to the band but it let's people make their concession/bathroom run and get back into their seats.

It wouldn't be hard to have Gross, other dignitaries and the family come to Midfield and have the video tribute play, then let the teammates form a tunnel and have McNabb come out. Let him say what he wants and then play another video clip of SU game highlights with the audio from those plays.

It's a shame that 1x in a given season, with an ample notice, every few years or so, that the fans hate and dont a give a shitt about an incredible former player enough to show up 5 mins early.

If u hate cattle, then don't complain when the school moves games to Giants Stadium to make more $$$$.

Selfish.

No selfishness here. I was there cheering.

If they told YOU, to be there an hour early, you would.

I'm just sayin...

The ceremonies are very brief. But they also need to make the honoree more available to the public throughout the weekend. An autograph signing session, something.

Eileen Edsall was one of the Letter Winners of Distinction today (along with Monk and others).

Her husband HCRE was in the house today.

It's against NCAA regulations for him to watch us play, so the ceremony had to take place before the game started, instead of halftime.
Wow , just when I thought I had all the reasons I needed to hate the NCAA, yet another one shows up! Damned!

Yup. Literally the worst rule I've ever heard. I'd love someone to argue in favor of it. Ludicrous
