Which is amazing.
2009- 3 seed
2010- 1 seed
2011- 3 seed
2012- 1 seed
2013- 4 seed
2014- projected 1/2/3/4 seed

I wonder what the record for most consecutive top 4 seeds would be in the modern era from 1985 onward when their were 64 teams selected. This would be a challenge for our board historian. I wold think the record belongs to Duke, but I don't know. When I read all the negativity drama this stat should calm people down. I am not saying legitimate criticism is not warranted, but the fast food sky is falling if we lose games crowd.

I just spent the last couple of hours going through all the brackets from 1985 so we could have a list of the longest top-4 seed streaks.
As far as I can tell Kansas has the longest streak from 2001-Present which is good for 12 straight seasons with this season looking like they're 13th. Only one other school has ever had a double digit streak and that was Duke from 1997-2006, good for 10 seasons in a row.

This is a list of every school who has ever had five straight or more. It has been done 19 times since the tournement expanded to its current format;
Kansas 2001-Present (12)
Duke 1997-2006 (10)
Kansas 1990-1998 (9)
Arizona 1996-2003 (8)
Kentucky 1992-1999 (8)
UNLV 1985-1991 (7)
Arizona 1988-1994 (7)
Duke 2008-Present (6)
Arkansas 1990-1995 (6)
Syracuse 1986-1991 (6)
Illinois 1985-1989 (5)
North Carolina 1985-1989 (5)
North Carolina 1991-1995 (5)
Massachusetts 1992-1996 (5)
Maryland 1998-2002 (5)
Kentucky 2001-2005 (5)
North Carolina 2005-2009 (5)
Pittsburgh 2007-2011 (5)
Syracuse 2009-Present (5)

With this season we will tie our own personal record, and judging by our trajectory we should exceed it next season. I attached a picture of the spreadsheet I used to find these numbers. If you find a mistake let me know and I can go back and fix it.

I would give this more than one like if I could. Very well done and thanks a lot for spending the time doing this.

The Kansas and Duke streaks are nuts, because they both have 2 in he top 5 of so. Looks like KU had 2 years off, but from 90-present they've been a top 4 seed every year but 2. Insane. Duke is 97-present with the exception of one year.

We also can finish in the KP top 15 for the 6th straight year, which no one else has done over that period.

Great post.

2001 feels like an incredibly long time ago - an amazing record for Kansas, especially because it gives no sign of stopping soon.

Cool to see that the only live streaks are SU, Duke, and Kansas. Good company.

Haha thanks, I needed something to do while I was waiting for my laundry to finish and I've always been a huge stats and trend type of guy so this was right up my alley.
