But as April bled into early May, Wilson was still without a single major offer. Then literally out of nowhere, Syracuse University showed keen interest in Wilson, who said he didn’t remember sending the New York school his recruiting video. So the family took an unofficial visit in mid-May to get a feel for the campus and football program.

So what does this mean for Zach Allen? Should we be worried about his commitment to us?

“They made it clear I was there No. 1 guy. That was important to me,” said Wilson, who threw for nearly 2,000 yards last season with 20 touchdowns and a 56 percent completion rate. “I didn’t want to be come back-up recruit.”

Don't be surprised if Wilson competes for QB next year and Allen redshirts.

Based only on the film I have seen, I, for one, would be absolutely stunned if Wilson out performs Allen.

Well, that very well may have been the case....before Allen gave his commitment.

Both are valid points but Hackett saw something he really liked... and that was before he bulked up this summer, and now has more of a Division I body.

Allen committed two weeks after Wilson. The comment about Wilson being the No. 1 guy are 3 months or more old. He was interviewed after Allen committed and said he didn't have any issues with the competition.

Context gentlemen, context.

Unless I have my facts wrong, I believe that both of these QBs have indicated that they plan to enroll in January and participate in spring ball. I don't see a downside--one will get in the mix and compete with Broyld / Hunt / Loeb for PT, and the other will redshirt.

Great situation for SU.
