You mentioned that he secured a HC gig without coordinator experience previously...how did that turn out?
I'm just saying that he obviously could have used more complex OJT (i.e. DC) than being a position coach. Football is actually a pretty complicated game with many moving parts. If any coach's ultimate career goal is to become a HC, why not do yourself a favor and learn as a coordinator?
Just out of curiosity, I wonder how many position coaches, without any coordinator experience, have become successful HC's?
