For some reason I thought we would be something like -3.5ish.

Syracuse men’s basketball: Predictions vs Pittsburgh

Syracuse men’s basketball: predictions vs Pittsburgh
The Syracuse Orange (10-5, 1-1) head back on the road to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers (7-8, 0-2) in the first of two meetings between the two squads. The game tips at 2:00 on ACC Network with Anish Shroff and Terence Oglesby on the call.

Here’s what we’re predicting in this one:
Dom: Syracuse 66, Pitt 60

Despite their recent skid, Syracuse can’t underestimate the Panthers, who have lost back-to-back games against Miami and Clemson by a combined 12 points. This will be a defensive slugfest, with turnovers, scoreless stretches and offenses stuck in the mud. William Kyle’s on defense versus Cameron Corhen on offense is arguably the most important player against player matchup of the game, but I think another strong game from Freeman allows Syracuse to just do enough to escape in the low-scoring contest.

Sam: Pitt 69, Syracuse 67

This is a coin flip game to me. Both teams have struggled a ton this year, but Syracuse did not sweep a two-game road trip at any point in Adrian Autry’s first two seasons at the helm, and I think it’s difficult to win two in a row on the road in your league in general, especially when you’re a middle of the pack, or back half team. With that in mind, I’m going to give the slight edge to Pittsburgh in this one.

Max: Syracuse 68, Pitt 64

These two are very similar after crunching the numbers, but the X factor to me is Syracuse’s better defense, which should do just enough to pull out the road dub. After home losses to Quinnipiac and Hofstra (sore subject), it looks like the “Oakland Zoo” has lost some of its magic. A pair of blocks by William Kyle will help ice the game and send the Orange dancing all the way up the Duquesne Incline.

Kevin: Pitt 67, Syracuse 65

I feel similar to Sam on this one. Road games are tough and Pitt is the more desperate team at this point and they should be play with the type of urgency the Orange struggled with over the final 10 minutes at Georgia Tech. Syracuse is going to need to get more consistent efforts around Donnie Freeman in this one, but I feel as though turnovers prove costly in a close loss.

Szuba: Syracuse 69, Pittsburgh 67

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure Syracuse will find a way to make this more interesting than it needs to be. But I’m with Dom here — Pittsburgh just doesn’t have enough inside to stop both Freeman and Kyle on the interior. This should be a game where the Orange control the glass with those two aforementioned players, Sadiq White and Nate Kingz. Sluggish offense aside from both teams, Syracuse does enough to get it done and escape with a second straight road win.

You compare the Hofstra losses. Hofstra made an insane amount of 3s, even shooting 50% we win the game by 7-10. Then SU missed a ton of FTs. A decent game there we win by 5. Hosftra was jus OK from 3 and Pitt made their Fts and still lost.

We have the better team if we just do the little things
