Syracuse opens -5.5 over Wake...

Down to -4.5 at a lot of books. Looks like some early Deacon money coming in.

Feel like the -5.5 opening was Vegas begging for money on Wake. The general public doesn't really know anything about either team aside from SU losing their starting QB. Games vs Elon and RI didn't really tell you much since neither was closer than it should've been.

Probably the "Hunt injury effect" on the early money. This was almost a given. It will be interesting to see if that number begins to inflate as the real sharps analyze SU.

Those of you thinking 3-4 TD margin, now is the time to jump...

I'm not a gambler, so I don't care about the line either way. However, too many people forget that Wake was one of the three Syracuse wins last season, and with a beat up team. Neither team changed that much to wipe away that result, especially when one considers that most of the players on the winning Syracuse team are still on the team. The line seems a little low and tainted to get Wake bets moving.

I think the playmakers on offense for SU could be vastly better this time around. We got a chance that any of 4-5 backs , if we can get the QB upright that would help, Phillips was a minor part of that game plan and Estime didnt play. Ishmael was the WR coming back and West played well but we have many more options hopefully now.

Wake thinks they have stepped up too so lets see what the D can do.

I see this game being very similar to our win vs. Wake in the Dome two years ago (we won 13-0). A slightly more high scoring game, perhaps 20-7.

You really think Wake will score that much?

We built them handily last and I think their best player a cb I think graduated.
Our D may not be as experienced but I think we improved more than they did. They are pretty young and I think Lester's offense will get the best of them. I would think 20+ points.

That CB was a first round draft pick.

Thompson, and Raymon have to be feeling they missed everything by only playing on 3rd downs against RI. I expect they both can't wait for an ACC opponent, and a full game. Their QB just might spend Saturday running for his life.

Wakes O-line is not good. Our front 7 is going to give them all they can handle. It's gonna be another long day for Wolford and Co. I think they are better overall than last year, and I think Dungey is better than Long, so I think we still win pretty easily. I'm think something like 30-7 or 28-14.

Considering Syracuse is "ungood" as well as Wake and with a freshman qb you guys are awful arrogant. You may beat us we don't usually play well there, but it will be closer than you guys are saying. Yes we lost first round pick Kevin Johnson to the Texans and two more guys on d off a top 40 defense. Our defense is good. Our O is young, but improved. We will know more after this game. Beating you guys would be huge though with Army and Indiana looming afterwards before the rest of the brutal ACC.

That's the thing. We are die hards. We are very aware of how lousy we were last year. And we beat you guys by a lot at your place.

Best of luck to you guys after this week - but Clawson is not making any friends up here.

You may wish to check out Syracuse' defense rankings last season. Then consider that the offense fell apart, went through four QBs and major injuries. I will give you a hint: Syracuse had a top 40 defense, too. Plus, Shafer and now Bullough, have a history of tough, aggressive defenses.

On offense, we have a healthy line (not so last season), better WRs, a very strong running backs crew. Even if our QB is only serviceable, we still have a reasonably good chance at a victory. I believe that Dungey is more than serviceable at QB, I like our chances.

Please don't take this as disrespect, but last season was a fluke. Syracuse was on an upward trajectory before last season's injury bug hit us. You may recall that Syracuse ended up third in the Atlantic division.

If "you guys" = the 3 posters out of the 3800 members, then yeah, we are awful arrogant. Otherwise, your post is kinda "ungood"

For the second year in a row we will play Wake with a true freshman QB. This year their true frosh has a years experience under his belt. Don't how who is better, but if there is a considerable difference that could be the game.
Both defenses are good.
