Syracuse popularity

So what. Go away and leave us alone to be happy about something.
Even so, we were by no means a powerhouse 10 years ago. The fact that we were in the Top 16 a decade ago is amazing to me.

Mannnnnn if we can just get the football program back on schedule we could really have a shot at pushing Penn state out of the way and be the kings of the northeast. Please dino I want you to be successful!!!! I think that’s why I pay way more attention to the football side then basketball. There’s more drama and at stake.

Anyone denigrating the validity of this study needs to spend a few minutes learning about Altimore Collins
I went to their website. It didn't move the needle in either direction for me. They might very well be good at what they do. I'm not one to be enamored simply by the fact they are a consulting firm.

Fun fact: Altimore Collins Consulting refers to themselves as ACC. Conflict of interest maybe?;)

SU is starting to trend in the right direction.

Dome is in great shape. One of the best venues in all of college sports. JMA is a big boost

New Athletic complex is underway.

Best coaching staff on paper in years for football

NIL coop is set up

JB about to retire which will create a buzz.

ACC has held and will most likely end up the third Conf after they announce the alliance with the Pac

We need to make a bowl and the dance this year and we will be on our way back.

For many years when I went to the ABC national tournament, would always run into people originally from Upstate, Eastern, or Western NY who were SU fans.
They are still out there just waiting for SU to get good again.

This is not a shot at you - and I don’t necessarily disagree with you - but it’s a sorry state of affairs when “JB is about to retire” is an example of “trending in the right direction”.

It's not sorry. After 45 years we're simply ready for the next chapter.

California: USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal
Texas: UT, TAMU, Baylor, TCU, UH, TTECH, SMU
Florida: UF, Miami, FSU, UCF
New York: SU

The division of fans amongst the P5 teams in the largest states clearly favors SU. It should not be a surprise that SU would rank relatively high with this type of built in advantage, especially with three historically successful and significant programs.

Alabama: Bama, Auburn
South Carolina: USC, Clemson
Georgia: UGA, GATech
Ohio: tOSU
Michigan: UM, MState
Pennsylvania: PSU, Pitt
North Carolina: UNC, NCState, Duke, Wake Forest

Checking in on other P5 states, only Ohio has a large population and one P5 school, thus tOSU's large following is easily explained while UM's is somewhat split, as is Pennsylvania's larger population. Alabama with a small population is split, likewise South Carolina is split other states are not significantly populous and likely have multiple teams.

Overall, the analysis makes sense.

Ya know all of these graphs are really making me feel better before the season starts lol. Maybe the dark ages haven’t been so bad??? …… naaaa they have.

Good visual for what you are saying.

Just a couple of comments from personal experiences on these campuses...

USF is better than Tier 6. They aren't great but are at least at the level of schools like WF and BC.

UNC, the same comment.

Virginia is not at the same level as Syracuse or Louisville. They belong in Tier 5.

Same applies to CMU. They do a good job and I like that tradition of dancing on the flatbeds of pickup trucks, but there isn't much of a fan base.

Purdue is nothing special. They belong with UL and SU.

Rutgers belongs in Tier 5. Though I have not been to a game on that campus since SU last played there, which has been a while. Maybe they have stepped up their game.

Army is in Tier 3 and Navy is in Tier 6? I would put them both in Tier 5. Army isn't remotely close to Tier 3.

Clemson is a whole level higher than VT. I would put them in Tier 1. Florida State is second best of the ACC schools tailgating. I don't think they are even listed. They are probably high Tier 2. VT should be low Tier 2.

I agree with your point. What i mean is that there will be a fresh start to facilities and to the bball program.

Tailgating in California is a thing. But, awesome tailgating @ Fresno State football games?

They have FSU on tier 2 between Texas A&M and Michigan.
