Floyd was very prophetic with his comments. Interesting comments, verifying most on here, regarding damage caused by GRob.

Floyd told me the same thing after the USC game... interesting. Funny, I was really upbeat after the USC game, thought they hung in witha chance to really make it interesting in the 3rd. One thing is for sure the team was whooped after that game, outmatched speed and size wise, strong effort though, what a great venue, hoping for a UCLA game at some point
Again, GROB may have left a few good players behind and upper classmen will most likely out perform young guys, hey we all know what Carter could do, but GROB was an unmitigated disaster, one of the worst coaches in the history of college football, failure to acknowledge the damage that he did is insane. We all know that Marrone has probably struggled to recruit some skilled athletes that can make immediate impact as well, put the two together, not pretty
That said, lets get a bowl game this year, turn the corner, roster will be fully flipped and move on.

The hole was so deep it was a crater. Yet, somehow we went to a bowl game in year 2. Go figure.

Obviously hardly winning put us in a gaping hole, but what else did GROB do (logistics wise) that almost killed our program. Im still mind boggled how we went from the McNabb years to the worst team in college football in a matter of a few seasons.

I am sure you know that GRob didn't coach all those years since the McNabb years. But since McNabb, we have won 7, 6, 9, 4, 6, 6, 1, 4, 2, 3, 4, 8, and 5 games.

Of course I'm aware. I just remember watching those games (never missed one) and knowing the other team was gonna get 15 yards on 3rd and 14 every time. I remember how inept we look, how embarrassing it was. How empty those stands were, and hope people so quickly forogt how only a few years before we were co big east champs.

I don't have the time nor do I care enough to do that, but I have noticed you defending certain aspects of his tenure, and quite a few people are getting annoyed with some of your recent posts.

I have no loyalty to him a all even though I thought he was a very nice guy who did much for the community and was very friendly and outgoing. I have said maybe 100 times that he was a failure as the HC of SU and there is no denying that fact based on his record here. But I do jump into threads where something is not true or an embellishment or an out right lie. Things like he didn't care about the players, could care less about academics, kids never worked out, he had no recruiting boards, his recruiting classes were garbage, his players always got in trouble because he was too easy on them, and even wilder garbage. In this thread I am simply saying that if the program was in such deep deep despair with no hope, then how the heck did we go 8-5 and a bowl in Marrone's 2nd year. If it was so rock bottom, then that doesn't happen unless Marrone is God, which we saw this year he isn't. Year 4 and people still use GRob as an excuse.

Get annoyed all you want, don't read my posts. My posts are no more wrong than any of the ones you do like. Why should an opinion or a fact cause you to be annoyed? What in this thread annoyed you so much? Because I said the fact we went to a bowl shows the program wasn't a lost cause and in some deep never ending hole that would take forever to get out of?

I'm with you Bees. There is absolutely no doubt that GumpRob was a historically awful coach. Just outright friggin' terrible.
But...
It doesn't jibe that the program could have been THAT devastated and yet manage to win 6 games against D-1A opponents 2 years after he left. I mean SU was definitely among the worst, if not the worst, BCS programs in 2007/2008. But there was just enough left in the program to see us scratch our way to that bowl game 2 years later.
We were bad, real bad, but we simply couldn't have been the apocalyptic wasteland that some folks made us out to be.
Yep...too bad Ole Floyd and other insiders are so delusional.

if ole Floyd is so good at seeing the future- why didnt he polish up his crystal ball and call the good doctor and warn him about the great guru?
this team wasn't as bereft of talent as some say-compared to a top tier sec school -yes
but on the big east scale we weren't that overwhelmed -
if we were schafer couldn't have turned around the d so drastically and fast -
more truth than fiction in saying marrone hasnt improved production using his players yet

I never said I was annoyed by you since I like the fact that you tell it the way you see and we differ on a good amount of things. That's quite a bit better than having a board where everyone just agrees with each other. I was just stating the obvious that some people seemed to be getting annoyed.

Eh, not gonna put Floyd in the middle of this. He is one of my all time favorite Orangemen, a great player and an even better person. I am fortunate to have been able to speak with him a couple times at various events over the years. He's just doing his job by supporting the program with everything he has.
As to other "insiders"? Sometimes people hear what they want and/or are told what someone wants the message to be. Peace.
Look Bees GROb was a complete horrific mess of a football coach. A complete failure as toucan get for a coach of any sport any where. He was very destructive to Syracuse University football. He was a cancer to the program completely destroying it and it's reputation. Because he recruited a few good players doesn't discount the devestation that his incompetence caused. Stop defending this man
