Well, super unfortunate that we had to go directly up against possibly the biggest game of the year.

2.6 million viewers on ABC

Compared to 16.6 million for Ohio State- Texas, the most for a Week 1 game in history. In the age of viewers meaning alot for us now money wise, we got boned

This is why the new ACC model of rewarding ratings is so stupid. We can’t control what is counter programmed against us. We barely beat out the Boise-USF ratings, only because the biggest game of the non-conference schedule was directly against us.

Tennessee is saying the same thing.

2.6 million is a big number for a regular season game for us though, even on ABC. Isn't it?
Yes, but it could have been much much more. For context, last years Cuse v Miami game had 2.11 million.

We ended up as the #10 most watched game of the weekend. It just so happens that 6 ACC teams had more ( FSU, Clemson, Miami, UNC, VA Tech, GA Tech)

Did the commentators ever mention the TN players going down or just Samuels for SU?
IDK but it was north of a dozen injury timeouts for their defense. Someone came on the forum to add that a couple players were actually hurt but it seemed like a small number in comparison to the total number of stoppages of play

Are (illegal) streamers counted in ratings? I assume no. Many people, millions of people, refuse to pay for cable and stream every game online, on one of many sites. Especially the younger audience. I can watch 3 games at a time on my computer.

Well, it would’ve helped if it wasn’t 17-0 in the 1st 10 minutes. But, going up against two of the biggest team names in the game with one of the most anticipated QB debuts ever would’ve been insurmountable regardless.
Bingo.

This is an average for the game. The drop off early was likely notable and a lack of a close game prevented random from tuning in.

It's one thing to lose, but far more impactful to lose early.

I suspect Wildhack made that clear in film study (ha ha.)

Texas/OSU as a nooner was stupid - it would have done even better later in the day which is crazy. My wife's family has deep, deep Ohio roots and they weren't happy at all with that time slot.

Yeah for the love of God FSU fans and talking heads are going to be insufferable after that Bama win. ACC brass are going to be pimping FSU non stop now. SMH. Ever since the lawsuits, I really want nothing but the worst for FSU. I hope Bama loses a few more to make that FSU win more pedestrian. I am also salty about how the ACC completely capitulated. So for that matter screw FSU and whomever in ACC HQ who decided to go soft on FSU.

It also would have helped if the game was ever in doubt. Tennessee was on cruise control after the 1st quarter.
