Syracuse University spring football practice 'closed until further notice'

I hope he can just let Rahme in to fill us in a bit about the players progress.

seriously what does this really accomplish?

its not like teams are lurking in the shadows trying to learn the "dead horse" offense-

Closed to the media means closed to the media. Media people get PISSED when there's hand-picked media access. Marrone knows how to get the media to work for him better than that.

It was only a matter of time. End of the day, I don't care, do what you need to win, make it happen. Innovative changes to the offense that need to be kept secret? That's fine, just make it work.

But in hindsight, I could have done without all the "as long as I'm here Spring Practices will always be open" talk back in 2009.

Just makes you worry that the man with the plan didn't really have a plan but he's desperately trying to come up with one.

first time head coaches are always too bold in their proclamations and get brought back down to earth. par for the course. plans are overrated.

or... it may be that he wants to limit the distractions.

Players in front of even a small audience might act differently.

What a bunch of Drama Queens on here ... trying to make something out of almost nothing.

i think you're either naive or your urge to be contrarian for the sake of it occasionally results in really silly posts

That was actually the one part of the plan that GRob had right. He was completely paranoid about anyone seeing his practices right out of the gate. Just like almost every single football coach in America. If Marrone hadn't been so adamant about it, I wouldn't even bring it up, that stuff just kinda cracks me up.

But in reality, I side with the optimists, I do think we're going to get better, I think we have some good young talent. If this helps us focus to get there, then good. I'm all in. Not like I live there to see practices anyway. Close the spring game too, that ends up being a waste of valuable practice time when they go to vanilla mode.

I chalk this one up to urge to be contrarian. I just read through the thread and I think Townie may have imagined the drama. I'm not seeing it, at least not by syracusefan drama standards, which are quite high.

I agree with the "who the %#+ cares" crowd.

Marrone can have them practicing in a bomb shelter while wearing armor for all I care.

Just win som freakin' games.

Townie for once we agree! I don't think it's really drama, but there is way too much concern from some people. I really do think he is trying to limit distractions, especially with the nice weather. I have noticed that a lot of guys have been complaining which concerns me. Lemon looks very upbeat and I think he's getting close to getting ready to get back. I'd look for him to be on the field by the end of spring. Micah Robinson also seems very upbeat lately. I think Marrone is trying to make sure they both stay healthy and he's giving them extra time to get fully healthy. I'll call it now, Micah will be a starter and he will be very good THIS year, and look for Lemon to put up some really good numbers. That's about all I know for right now.
