Syracuse up for nation's top student section

One time there was 250k living in the city of Syracuse.Do u think the fans south of the border are alums? They are Syracuse transplants not alums. D o you think the people at the NC STATE game was alums? HELL NO! they are transplants. There are probably more upstate ny 'ers living in the south than southerns. If you think the country wide cuse fans are alums, you my friend are nuts.

You should come down to DC and poll at the Verizon Center next time we're in town and see how many are alums.

A couple of points...I pass by a Confederate soldier and Robert E. Lee's boyhood home on my daily commute in the DC areas, so take that as southern as you wish. And SU does not have 16K undergrads.

The student section is pretty good, but it's all about the same at schools that give access to students. Wear the same color, dress up for TV, etc.

UNC student here. Our student section is miserable during certain games but the Dean Dome can also be a very difficult place to play if the game is big enough. Loud, but not Carrier Dome loud (been to a couple of games there).

Went to a UNC/Duke game in Cameron Indoor as well. Duke benefits from having a tiny gymnasium that they play in. Almost any other major college basketball program in the country could have a similar atmosphere if they limited their capacity to 9,000 seats.

Our student section would seem much better if we played in a real arena. We play in a football stadium, so the students are far away from the court. However if we got a new arena, just for basketball, everyone would bitch about it. Pick your poison.

I'll take the dome. Playing in front of crowds of over 30,000 is a huge recruiting tool.

Everyone says that when they were in school was the best, but it really was in 2003 during my senior year.

And we started the Hey Song chant at SU. And when they banned it, sang it acapella during the Final Four. You're welcome.
I'm just now reading this thread, but I agree with this. And yes, it's entirely because I'm class of '03, too, and we WERE the ones who got the Hey Song banned.

After the pathetic showing on Saturday, we definitely don't deserve to win.

You do realize that a huge portion of our student body couldn't attend due to sorority rush, right?

What kind of horrible priorities are going on up there? Rush? Really?

Don't ask me to explain the priorities of sorority girls. You'd think at least Alpha Phi would be out to support their star pupil.

Having only been to away venues multiple times @Pitt and @UC, I'll say that those places get really hostile and loud. Those NBA arenas are no home courts, IMO. Looking forward to experiencing the YUM on Feb 13!
