Syverud retiring in June 2026

What would those in the know say his accomplishments were? (Other than a sharply diminished national ranking)

The school is absolutely flush with revenue and cash. Campus is bigger than ever and expanding at a time when many colleges are in trouble. Students have their own gentrified area of the city and aren't as dependent on slumlords. The Dome has been nicely refreshed despite a downtown stadium fiasco with the old mayor and state, and we stayed in a Power Conference when many schools fell out.

I know he didn't do a good job with sports fans and rankings, and I'm not going to miss him personally, but his work was appreciated by a lot of trustees and donors.

Dan Mullen?
Summer Ocean GIF by Bleecker Street

Wouldn't you think Wildhack would want to serve his term on the hoop selection comm first?
He might not have a choice to finish it if his contract is up. New chancellor might not renew it. Also does he need to be an active employee to serve on the committee?

I haven’t been to campus in many years, but wasn’t one of his main priorities redoing Marshall street? Did that ever happen? (I think no, but enlighten me)

As far as athletics, he upgraded the football practice facility, completely renovated the JMA Dome, including getting new rights to renaming the facility, the new Lally football complex and Miron Court. Several other athletic facilities were also upgraded. The new Barnes athletic complex on campus is amazing. The student center was also renovated. Not sure if Newhouse III came on his watch.

Yeah, he's got a lot to be proud of... but I think the writing has been on the wall for a while now and dealing with the new paradigm in athletics funding and NIL changes/requirements for D1 programs was not something he wanted to immerse himself in... so not at all surprising he's ready to retire.

Also, wonder if that new hire from Pitt is the longterm replacement or handling the above needs for the next year??

If Bud Poliquin is still alive, I think he would be a whiz bang chancellor(huzzah). All ramrods can then apply to be his right hand person
As a Senior Whiz-Bang Advocate, I give a hearty boolah-boolah to your pronouncement. I shall dispatch your suggestion to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 autogyro?

Let the next Chancellor PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE understand FOOTBALL and BASKETBALL will HELP the University Financially in the future.. PLEASE BE SPORT MINDED along the Academically Minded individual and not a dork who just wants real estate!!!
