I've been to the Dome probably about 100 times or so but I never tailgated before a game until last year when I brought 3 Cuse football first timers out for the Pitt game. They were guys I go to the Bills games with and they loved it so much we decided to make it a yearly tradition. We'll be going to the Carolina game October 20th. I was fortunate enough last year to have someone from the board contact me and I bought a Harrison lot parking pass from them and we were good to go. It would be awesome if anyone had any parking passes left for Harrison, Lehmen or any of the permit lots. However if I am not as fortunate this season what lots around the Dome are tailgating friendly? For Hoops I almost always park at the lots right behind Marshal square mall, by Chase bank. Do those lots allow tailgating though? Anyone have suggestions on what lots are best for tailgating should I have no luck in finding a pass to one of the permit lots? Back when my father and I had seasons in the 90's we always parked at the sororities but I'd rather not do that this time. Any help would be appreciated.

btw one of these days I need to see what these fine mess pregames are like but with this group we like to do our own grilling, play corn hole, get a fire going if cold and the such.

You guys are in good shape? No need to take a shuttle...just walk. I'd look at buying a pass for Manley and start your new tradition. Call SU Box office tomorrow and see if you can get season tickets and a pass for the remainder of the year.

I'd be happy to talk to you and tell you the most important things to have to start a successful tailgate.

manley, tons of room, its a short walk if you dont want to ride the bus and sometimes you get another game to watch to kill time.

Huh, Manley. I never considered that. I've always been Marshall centric, from 44s to Faegans to Sheridan to Chucks. My crew and I had Bills seasons for years so we are serious about our tailgates. Harrison was ok last year..Are there lots of other people set up at Manely?

Manley North has a decent amount of tailgaters, some more sophisticated than others. Seems like the scene for Wagner was an improvement from last year (was relatively full for Wagner). I think parking was $15 if you don't have a Parking pass.

You can either walk to the Dome (15 min or so) or they have shuttles constantly running.

Manley is a way to get into tailgating without having to pay the $300 donation to SU to get into the areas near the Dome. If you want to tailgate sometimes and sometimes hit the bars pregame...then Manley isn't for you.

or walking up the hill

The tailgate was a nice change last year from the bars I've been to a billion times. We strictly want to tailgate. I guess I always thought of Manley as out there and kinda detached from the game day feel, but I thought this with no knowledge. If there are other tailgaters there it could be perfect. How early do the lots open there?

The beauty of it...you can tailgate for a couple hours and walk over to the Quad. It is absolutely rocking now. It has so many new things you won't believe it. The University has hit it out of the park with the Quad.

There are some tailgates at Manley but I'm not an expert on how many. The lots officially open 4 hours prior but you should be able to get there 5 hours prior without issue. Try it for a year and see how it goes. BL: there are not many spots anymore close to the Dome.

Walking from Manley is only 15 minutes? That’s shorter than walks from many official stadium lots I’ve been at in other venues. Didn’t realize it was that close.

Yea it does seem farther I guess but if you cut up and head west near the tennis courts by the Womens Buiilding, you can do it in 15 minutes. Not bad during good weather.

We park at the lot below Marshall Square Mall at the corner of University and Adams where that small eye doctor building is. $25 to park. The tailgating scene for Wagner was great. Gotta get there early to get a decent spot for tailgating, though, as the lot is small.

Arriving early is a non Issue. If the game is at noon we'll get there around 8. If its later prob 4.5 hours prior whichever lot we choose, if we can.

I remember the road was all torn up around there, looks good now. Lots used to be $5-15 are now $25. Only makes sense as some on street options and official lots go away.

shandeezy7 correct me if wrong...but this is the lot.

Honestly for $25 with access to Marshall St after the games...it is a no brainer. Sounds like a great option for early arrivals. adk(roc)CUSE this might be your winner for the rest of the season.

That's the lot right next to wear we parked last year, figured it was also permit. That's awesome. Thanks to everyone jumping in on this thread by the way. You've been a big help...Go Cuse.

You helped yourself with a commitment to early arrival. I get a bunch of questions from folks looking for parking but they want to arrive 30-90 mins prior and I don't have as many options for them.

Yeah, depending on which gate you're headed to, it's a flat and pleasant walk to the Dome through Oakwood. 12-15 minutes with a road beer in hand, no problem:

I've never tailgated at Manley North, but there are always people there in my experience. There's one big group near the north end of the lot that's got a few dozen people and a big inflatable Otto, they're usually there 3 hours before kick. For a pure tailgating experience it seems like an easy option.

That's the one! I'm guessing you're referring to when University Ave was torn up so that it could be converted into a two-way street. Been all good for a few years now. It cost $15 to park there when we first started, then $20 and now $25. Still worth it with the convenience of being close to Marshall St and the Dome as well as having the flexibility to not need to commit to a pass for the season.

This project was proposed on the lot a couple of years back. I'm not sure where it stands now. Perhaps they fully abandoned it.

Developer pulls plan for Syracuse student high-rise, but only temporarily

When SU FB gets back in the Top 20-30...and the bandwagon comes back...SU ought to look at setting up security and parking in Thornden Park nearest SU.

I hope SU's security stays out, but this has been discussed as recently as yesterday. Logistics are tricky.

HA! I might know these people. And we had 42 last Saturday, but who's counting.

Gary, I see your lot getting busier... Stadium West is a tough, expensive ticket now.

Tough decision. The lot in my known Marshall area or something new with Manley. Both seem solid for the tailgate scene, thanks again. Awesome stuff

If you go with Manley, 690W (Gary) can show you the ropes. He'll keep you from getting beat up for being the FNG's.

Yeah I walk past you guys an Manley north but have yet to stop in.. I will try to make a pt of stopping at least once this year

I am in south, probably 10-15 set ups there.. Most of the time I bus in and walk back if the crowd stays until the end and you can beat the bus run walking thru the cemetery. Back 10-15 yrs ago I would say there were 25+ pretty good tailgates in manley south/. Toyed with the idea of changing to north just because its 5 min closer.
