Talk Me Down

If they continue to build on this performance I think they have a chance. Can't go backwards though.

I am very pleased with this performance. We left a lot out there, but played tough, and more importantly made some plays. Good to see the kids are still bought in. I was concerned the wheels could have come off with everything going on and FSU coming to town.

1. Improve redzone efficiency. It's still embarassing.
2. Cut out the silly penalties that stall drives
3. Capitalize off turnovers AND turnover opportunity
4. Learn how to use timeouts effectively
5. Allow AJ Long in the dining hall at all hours

But yes, it looks promising. I look forward to seeing Long to Ishmael for the foreseeable future.

You worry if it's a false positive. Whenever there has been a possible turning point moment in the game, either FSU turned it up a notch or we folded. As a result, SU has never had them breathing real hard. At the same time, I think whenever our FL kids play against FSU or UM, many of them play with a chip on their shoulder as if to prove that they were worthy of an offer that never came. Ishmael looks great today. We've got to convince him to play like this against everyone.

Long is the same size as Troy Nunes I think. That's what he looks like out there.

We have a chance. Always did. It wasn't a surprise that we had a tough schedule.

I feel good. I always do a playlist for every season and the NCAA Tournament and never listen to it when I'm going home after loss. Today I did. I just don't feel bad about this loss. I am NOT happy about the season, but feel if we play like we played today we'll win some games.

I know FSU isn't the best team in the country, but we look ok. Like ok enough to beat Wake and 3/4 of Pitt, Duke, BC and NC State. Or am I crazy?

No talking you down. You are crazy, in the Orange, good, kind of way. We knew we had players. We knew most of our staff are the right guys. The OC switch and the QB switch are what we needed to put things together. We are not perfect but have the tools to win five more games and go bowling. We can even upset Clemson if the D can get a break from this offense.

Lots to be optimistic about after today's showing. Very happy for the changes that occurred, from OC to QB. Would have been great if we also had Broyld and Estime but Ishmael looked very good with AJ.

Glad there is something to talk about on this board other how sucky our offense is and our uniforms, lol.

SU has a chance IF we can actually build on some things and execute properly. There are a few things the team is still not doing well but it felt like we had a decent effort today. Put it this way, we beat the Vegas odds today. I think that shows some things have changed. If the defense starts to get low and tackle, take better angles and the offense can actually be productive in the red zone, I think we'll see some actual wins in those "toss up" games.

It is only one game, it was still a loss and I can't imagine that was FSU's best showing. However, if SU has in fact made enough changes, discovered some weapons and can cut down on the mistakes, we could see a better result over the 2nd half of the season.

we at least may be competitive, but i also believe we will be underdogs in all those games---i still see us winning only one more

100% agree.

I liked the play calling and liked what I saw out of Long. Wilson was good, but Long just seemed yo have "it."

With respect to the play calling, it all made sense. Obviously didn't always work. Very few head scratchers.

The graphic showing the 65lb weight advantage their OL had over our DL explained why the D looked ineffective at times.

Those were some BIG boys on that O line! Impressed that our boys held up pretty well in spite of all that beef.

But they couldn't move Big John, the procedure call against them late was, their guy jumping to double team John.

ridiculous comment not even close. Longs athleticism is light years better than Nunes and his arm strength appears superior as well. One of the dumbest posts I've ever read on here if you're refering to ability. Size wise maybe. this kid is more doug flutie than Troy Nunes.

We need to beat NC State and Wake forest for sure. Then we need 2 of Duke, BC, Pitt. The. Maryland game removed our margin for error.

Nunes could run like a deer, unfortunately it was usually in the reverse direction necessary...

Away games will all be tough and neither NC State nor Duke at home will be pushovers, I see a max of 3 wins out of the remaining games, and that will require some good luck. I can not see us bowling this year, sorry to say, but god I hope I am wrong.

You misunderstand. He made this comment: 5. Allow AJ Long in the dining hall at all hours. My comment was only about his size, not his ability. I'd have to be a complete idiot to compare him to the incomparable Troy Nunes this early in his career. Talk about putting pressure on the kid. ;)

I wish I was adept at video editing. I'd find the clip of Nunes running backward against Michigan and put this audio over the top:

Gonna beat LSU next year.
