According to the AP. FWIW, he was Scout's #6-ranked TE back in 2010, and he had an SU offer. He's from New Jersey, so maybe Rutgirls has an in, but Marrone might at least want to give him a call.

By my count, that's four gone. A safety to NC State, a QB (maybe) to LSU, RB to USC, and a TE out there for the pickin's. And they can only bring in 15.

Reality settles in.

The OL from Arizona that SU recruited last year was also said to be transferring.

Who's the QB leaving for LSU?

Rob Bolden. He was released from his scholarship today.

The safety to NC State was originally a walk-on but he earned a scholly. So I count 5 scholarship players so far that have either transferred, been released from scholarship, or have stated they will be transferring.

Haplea probably ends up at FSU, visited there this past weekend.

Ryan Nowicki? Looks like he just visited Washington. Referred to as a 'former Penn State player'.

You know, the meme that the core is sticking together is not exactly holding up to reality.

Penn State is probably relieved to have Bolden gone. He was terrible.

It would seem LB Khari Fortt is out as well. Same with lineman Nowicki.

So while the 'core' remains they're losing some of their best players. Fortt, Haplea, Redd, Nowicki.

Rumored that an incoming freshman DT - Pollard - from NJ is going to bail to.

fannyville is so lucky that the sanctions came down late. If kids had been given a couple of months to transfer you would have seen a mass exodus. Pstate will now die a slow death

That's him. Yeah I think PSU defines "core" as 4th and 5th year seniors.

Well, Paterno refused to grant him a requested release last year. I'm guessing that LSU might have a position change in mind.

No. The Tigers need a backup QB in case Mett gets knocked out of some game. There is zero returning experience down by the river and the backups are RS freshmen.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how many of the incoming freshmen (and it was a pretty mediocre class by Penn State standards) stick around for Year 2.

ru already p/u pollard----but of course according to many on this board, we don't need to waste our resources to recruit nj----

What does one have to do with the other?

Incoming Penn State class was ranked 13th.

They had only one 4-star recruit, Lewis, a wide receiver. If they were ranked 13th, had to be due to quantity, not quality. Lot of MAC-type recruits in there as well.

You are both right. Bolton wanted out last year, but Patino wouldn't let him out of his schollie. Now that that is not a hurdle, LSU jumped on him because they need a backup.

Their class really wasn't that much different then ours last year. If that's the 13th rated class overall, makes you wonder...

Agreed. I applaud the committed players for their rhetoric about solidarity, but self interest trumps all--and an exodus was inevitable given the severity of the postseason penalties.

I just wish we would have been able to get in on it and pull an OG and a WR to help bolster our talent at those two positions of need.
