Don't laugh, I have thought about that several times in the past few years.

It is pay to play in some sense while the guys are still on a college team. You can't disentangle the two completely. What gives the player value to the fanbase is his presence on the team, and in almost all cases that's not portable across fanbases. But I suppose there could be a demonstrable business benefit to having, say, Angeli repping your pizza joint, and the whole thing is siloed for "Cuse people".

But still, I'd like these NIL deals to have a measurement aspect. It shouldn't be just "rational basis" to get approval, there should be a way to quantify and measure whether the intended business benefit accrued. And there should be consequences if not.

The revenue share is a much better way, and I very very strongly believe that it should be the only way to pay the players, in almost all cases.

Yea NIL is unlimited still for any school. As you can seee Texas and Oregon and a few others are still using there $16,000,000 of revenue share and then unlimited NIL

Right but if this player has signed a rev share agreement, it’s for playing. And binding. There are also model NIL agreements in each conference that make it clear that while it’s not pay for play you have to be a part of the university and other stuff in question. It’s why the Washington situation was quickly resolved.

I remember once upon a time OX or CL had access to a directory I believe. There was a link to something that would let them confirm somehow but I believe the university closed that up maybe 4 years back or so. Was hoping an insider had knowledge or perhaps someone saw an article. Presumably he is here but the late addition of the other TE does make you wonder if something possibly changed behind the scenes.

No. He won't be coming to syracuse. But the te we just picked up from wku is solid, put up decent numbers last year and didn't quit on his team 4 games into the season.

Beamer is the biggest dbag coach and that’s saying something. He wines and complains when someone poaches a player or coach from him (Lane Kiffin) did it to him. But he has no problem trying to poach players from other teams that already signed. Never been a fan of him and it’s making me dislike him even more

As frustrating as it is - no. And past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior, so as talented as he is maybe this is a blessing in disguise.
