Recruiting is a business. It is all about numbers, back up plans and "insurance". These coaches put a lot of time, travel and effort into recruiting kids that they feel will make the program successful  so that you the fan will be happy. They are at the mercy of 17/18 year olds who can commit one day and flip to another school the next. Then when a decommitment story like this comes out they are restricted from commenting on it by NCAA rules. So everyone only hears the story from the "jilted lover". I am sorry for Lindor but if the staff truly was not in contact with him for months where the Hell was his HS coach or counselors. You would think they would have figured things out before now.
