We keep talking about Ennis' steadiness, how he doesn't turn the ball over hardly ever but looking at the ACC-only stats, I was surprised to see that he's only third in the league in both fewest TOs and A/TO ratio. Then I looked at team TOs to see that SU is averaging an astonishingly low 8.1 TOs per game in all games but again was surprised to see us third in that category behind Duke and UVa. I looked to see who's at the bottom of the league in team TOs and it's FSU but only with 13/game. So about 5 TOs per game is the span from the top to the bottom of the league. In years past, it wasn't unusual to have a league team or two average 20-plus a game. They usually sucked but still there's a big difference between 13 and 20-plus.

Is this the effect of the enforcement of the hand-checking rules? Ennis might be the steadiest, headiest point guard we've had in a long time but it looks like the college game has changed quite a bit this year too. Everyone is seemingly steadier and headier.

That is an excellent point. I think our forced turnovers combined with our low amount of turnovers is one of the reasons for our success. I think it is clear than not being able to hound the ball handler or impede him with hands, hips, arm ect has drastically decreased the number of dribbling/traveling type of turnovers but also the passing ones as well. It allows the player with the ball more space and a better view of the court and I think ball movement has really benefitted.

I gotta beleive the hand checking is havign a much bigger impact on teams playing man defense and little to no effect on zone defenses.
