Tebow to back up Eli & Ryan?

Hard to believe the Giants would sign him. Public/media lightening rod, mediocre (at best) QB, no running game to speak of to take the pressure off him. Just don't see it happening. Silly article.

Giants usually only keep 2 QB's on the roster. Either Nassib will be Eli's back-up, or he'll be traded away.

And considering Eli is already a lightning rod, especially with the way he played last year, it's hard to imagine they'd invite even more drama into camp.

This is a speculative article as concluded at the end. However, bringing Tebow to training camp would not hurt the Giants in any material way. People can mock Tebow over his Christianity but he is not forcing his beliefs on others just answering questions when asked. Most people like Tebow so he can't be a terrible guy.

As the article points out RN lacks NFL experience and Tebow would be used to push Nassib more than anything else.

As a Giants fan, I am good with anything that makes the Giants a better team. If Tebow can push Nassib, well and good, bring him in. If there is a better prospect to push Nassib in developing, I want that guy.

I'm not knocking him for his Christianity. I'm knocking him for the unwanted attention he would bring, the distraction he would be, and the fact that he is a lousy NFL quarterback.

What is the unwanted attention? If the media are stupid and shallow they will focus on Tebow letting the rest of the team to get down to business, something they forgot how to do last season.

As to his NFL career, horrible passer no doubt. If he had been working on it and has improved enough that the Giants are willing to use him to push Nassib, I won't complain. The article was written as pure speculation and as a filler, see last page or two.

As I stated in my first post, if it will benefit the Giants, I am good with it. If not, don't waste the time. I trust the organization to make good decisions more often than not. They have a good track record so as a fan I don't get worked up as much I would if they acted like other organizations.

The Giants are also in the media capital and know how to deal with the media. Something the Jets organization does not do well.

I agree - if it will benefit the Giants, I am good with it too. I was stating reasons why I think it would not be good for the Giants.

No big problem. We just disagree whether Tebow would be a distraction. We probably will never get the answer because I firmly agree with you that his passing skills leave a lot to be desired of an NFL QB, based on his history. He has a long ways to go to prove himself an NFL QB. Now if he were to switch to defense or RB, many teams would talk to him.

or TE, that might work too. I just think that if the Giants wanted someone to push Nassib, it should be someone who can pass. :)

I forgot about TE, good catch.

I agree with you that if Nassib is to be pushed it must be done by a good NFL type passer. I was running with the article's supposition that Tebow has improved and leaving it to the Giants to make that call. I think we are much closer in agreement than our debate appears.

How slow is the work day when we are debating a hypothetical Tebow to the Giants? Mondays!

They'll have to stop running those Tebow commercials where he talks about not having a contract and learns "crazy" new skills in his free time.

Maybe one of the skills he learned was how to throw a football?

the columnists account mustve been hacked by an iggs or pokes fan, for thats ludicruous.

we just wasted a roster spot on nassib for a year, and are not about to do it again.

Eli is an elite QB who never misses a snap. the last game of the year shouldve put a nice scare into management to get a real backup in there like Carr, and not the ridiculousness that was the painter/nassib combo last year.

get a real #2 in there and cut both painter and the reach that was last years 4th rounder.

its time to make another run, lets not get cute with the backup QB position.

made that mistake last year and luckily the season sucked so bad it ultimately didnt matter, but enough.
