Putting this here so it won't get burried or spam a heavily used board. For those not participating feel free to comment but please do NOT mention players that have not yet been drafted.

We've got 8 teams drafting what they think will be the best team, and will be a 12 round snake draft consiting of:

1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 WR/TE flex , 2 DL 2 LB, 1 DB/S, 1 DT/DL flex

Draft order will be (I'm literally picking these out of a hat):

1)OrangePace
2)Tee1222
3)CuseTroop
4)ImperialOrange
5)Alsacs
6)Digable5
7)General20
8)Orangezoo

For those not familiar with snake draft the rounds reverse so Orangezoo will lead off the 2nd round #9 pick followed by General20 #10, etc, etc.

Feel free to explain your pick as you make them as to why you picked that player and good natured smack talk (as always) is also encouraged in response.

Again, please refrain from mentioning guys not yet drafted as you could kill someone's draft by mentioning someone that I, or others didn't remember from 1989.

This draft will take as long as need be because really what's the rush? I'll shoot reminders out if someone's on the clock.

Please post your draft picks, and only your draft picks in bold for those quick browsing the thread to see if someone has already been picked.

Picks should read Round 1 #2 pick, Tee selects Sean Landeta P/Giants for example and then post everything else standard

As soon as OrangePace shows up to pick 1 of 2 potential players we can get this party started.

Tee, you have 2 guys on your shortboard for the #2 pick or potentially more?

This is a blind draft, correct? In other words, I have to rely on my beer addled memory, and not go online and look at stats.

I hope this is the case, because that sounds fun. It will add an element of unpredictability and reward those who remember Tecmo the best.

I posted a link to rosters but doesn't list stats so blind to a point. You can look through rosters (if you want) to remember a players name and draft them and then I'm sure we'll all be either praising or bashing the pick after the fact.

Personally I don't remember specific player ratings as it pertains to speed, etc. aside from some guys are fast and some are not. Some QB's can't hit the broad side of the barn and some can throw it through the barn wall.

I have a list I wrote down into my iPhone, but I have played over the weekend.
But I am torn now on my backup pick.

I wouldn't be. Wish I had your pick to be honest. Then again some positions have more depth than others so that has to play in. There are guys you know wont be there in round 2 so I'm thinking value over replacement as well but could also just go best avail.

This is key, Ive been trying to think back. What positions have guys I definitely DONT want to get stuck with, and what positions have one guy that really stands out that might be worth a reach.

And which players do you know that are buried that others don't as well as which big names will folks reach for that they shouldn't.

Bingo, big names that are overrated is my worry.
I've got less than an hour to bolt, so if I'm on the clock around 4:30, I won't be able to pick until 5:30 or so.

By the way do we use QB-Browns, QB-Eagles, QB-Bills or Jim Kelly, Randall Cunningham, Bernie Kosar

I say if you draft any of those guys you get nothing . . .nah, that would be too mean.

Extra bonus points for authenticity though.

Wha?
Haven't played in a while?

I probably wasn't clear. I was throwing out the idea that if you draft Jim Kelly, you get nothing but an empty slot, since there really isn't any Jim Kelly on the game.

Instead I say we go with giving the people who remember the correct terms extra props.

But I actually haven't played in a long while. Ten years at least.

Ah, gotcha. I played the other day, and bit off more than I can chew, trying to take the Bucs far...
I forgot how fast the cpu gets after week 4!
Still, played well, and had the long distance weave run going early.

Btw, who here remembered Tecmo 1, where if you had a stud defender (LT, White, even Howie Long) in the vicinity, automatic interception?
:rolling:

Yeah, and you only had 4 plays per team. It meant you could basically predict the plays by down. It paved the way for TSB which is my opinion the greatest game of all-time. If they made a TSB every year with new rosters I would purchase it and probably drop a decent coin on it.

In TSB, did you used to take your worst scrub KR and bring him back to the 1 yard line to pad rushing/passing/receiving stats?
I did, and pretty sure there was a cap on totals for rushing/passing/receiving yards.

Damn 8 bit systems!

Early in the season yes before wear and tear and health mattered. However, typically I would onside kick it just cause I mastered it and could pad-stats that way. I also had 1 game with Bo Jackson that I ran for 1000 yards in ONE game no joke. I onside kick'ed it so many times in a row and kept housing Bo Jackson TDs I emailed Bill Simmons about it when he did a mailbag on Video Bo. I was embarrassed when I saw I had over 1000 yards in one game.
