Miami High-School Powerhouse Suspends Coach Teddy Bridgewater Amid Investigation

The ex-Pro Bowler is in hot water with the Florida High School Athletic Association.

Suspended while the FHSAA investigates his providing of “impermissible benefits” to players.

Apparently he was paying for their Ubers, physical treatment, and clothes - not handing out wads.

Seems like pretty harmless stuff being done to help kids who live in a rougher part of the city.

Considering we have about 6 Northwestern HS kids over the last 2 years i’m not sure how i feel about this.

What's the problem.

We obviously have good relationships with the Teddy. You don’t get 5-6 from a south florida school if you don’t have influence with the people advising them, which is typically a coach, especially an ex-pro like Teddy who has been through it all.

If Teddy was just paying for things like pre-game meals, physical therapy, Ubers to get home and to the facilities, etc. (which it seems is what’s being reported) - he should be given a trophy or a pizza party, not a suspension.

All I see is a strong role model paying out of his own pocket to keep kids off the streets in a high crime area.

Agree. He’s having a positive benefit in their lives. Also there are no rules in college why does it matter at HS.
