A couple of things I noticed in the articles today.

Dave Jacobs is teaching Fran's son how to snap. Dave always got a lot of crap on the board and some said "he never gave back". Putting aside for the moment that he gave back on the field, he also worked with a number of our kickers through the years. You don't know about that because he never felt it necessary to shine a spotlight on himself for helping with the team the way that some do...

But he has helped.

The other thing was the guy...new maybe?...who said that for the past 40 years, SU was a basketball school. It is true that JB's success was legendary, but apparently the guy missed the 15 year period starting with 1987.

We had one 11-win season, four 10-win seasons, three 9-win seasons, and two 8-win seasons. We also went to 12 bowls in an era where you didn't get a bowl bid simply for having a pulse, a .500 record, and no other plans for December.

That was a truly golden era for SU football, it featured many of the true greats, and lengthy success that was only duplicated in Ben's years before he fell off a cliff.

While true that he haven't done much lately, to act like the entire last 40 years was a washout is not true.

You beat me to it. Just a ridiculous comment.

“Syracuse is a football school that happens to have a good basketball program “: Jim Boeheim

Maybe not the exact quote.

"Syracuse was a national story in 2024. After spending the last 40 years being known as a basketball school"

Ugh new guy. Just ugh.
After reading that I checked to see who this was written by, figuring it was a national writer. Surprised to see it was written by a local writer...

(My thought process going through these posts...)

It's not his fault...maybe he didn't know

(reads this post to find it was a local writer)...

Local?!? LOCAL?!? It sure as hell is his G-Damn fault! He should have known!

As the other post shows there are still a good number of us who go back to Ben.
And as I said to Steve before we had the great opportunity to see Syracuse through 2 great periods and the start of a 3rd.

Not sure where to post this, so I’ll post it here.

ACC SU coverage, or lack thereof, still amazes me.

I just watched ACC PM on ACC network on the Monday before the full season opener weekend. A Syracuse team coming off a 10 win season and about to play ranked Tennessee, gets barely a mention. They gave Wake Forest as much airtime as Cuse. They covered all the other ranked matchups with their proper due and covered VT vs SC more than SU vs Tenn. It’s remarkable.

I get that we’ve lost a lot and have a tough schedule, so they don’t expect much from us, but the ACC conspiracy against Cuse might actually have merit. It’s unbelievable. It was a full 35 min into the program before SU got a simple passing mention. Nothing more.

On the prior program with Roddy Jones and EJ Manuel, you’d think that northeast football doesn’t even exist. It’s crazy.

It’s disappointing because I remember looking forward to getting ACCN to receive more and better SU coverage but it’s never materialized, even after Fran has made Cuse a compelling story.

Have we gotten a bit more coverage? Sure, but not in proportion to our success and certainly not in proportion to our week one matchup. They’re more interested in Duke still. Just bs.

The lack of respect at all by the pundits all over the internet and Yahoo is insane. Most think we will get our doors blown off. I saw some post somewhere on here that people were calling for an upset. I’m not sue where that is as all is see is blow out city by UT being talked about. To your point, even the ACC disrespects us.

Mark Packer used to give us props; and he loved Coach Fran. He is gone now. I think, unless we get ranked, we are not going to be seeing much of Cuse Athletics.

Yes Mark Parker did. Sorry to see him gone. Other than for him the ACCN is a network mainly for North Carolina.

It's an uphill battle in this crap conference, but Fran will get us there.
