...now it is for real...where do we want 'Cuse to end...is it an expanded BE with 12 football schools; is it football schools move away from BE...is it the ACC or what do you think? What is best for the BBall team...cause that is what stirs my pot...

The member presidents of the Southeastern Conference unanimously voted to accept Texas A&M Tuesday night as the league's 13th member, but the Aggies' official acceptance has been delayed by the potential threat of legal action.
The SEC's presidents want assurances that no individual Big 12 school will sue for contractual interference over Texas A&M's departure. Baylor has not given that assurance to this point, according to sources.
"We were notified yesterday afternoon that at least one Big 12 institution had withdrawn its previous consent and was considering legal action," University of Florida president and SEC chairman Dr. Bernie Machen said in a statement released Wednesday. "The SEC has stated that to consider an institution for membership, there must be no contractual hindrances to its departure. "
The SEC received written assurance from the Big 12 on Sept. 2 that it was free to accept Texas A&M as a member, Machen said.
Texas A&M had planned a celebration and news conference at the College Station campus for Wednesday but that is now on hold.
Texas A&M has said throughout the process that it was taking methodical steps. The Aggies hope to begin play in the SEC next season and have already sold out season tickets, in part from anticipation of the move.
Texas A&M is interested in making what it considers a bold move to separate itself from Texas while aligning with a conference it believes is a cultural fit and provides high visibility and financial stability. The SEC is interested in adding Texas to its television and recruiting footprint.

Ahhhh...musical conferences. We need name changing or,at least, map changing here. Let's see. The SEC is now the SWEC (South west east Conference) The Big East could be ... AEM+1(Anybody east of the Mississippi +Texas Tech). What happens if Big 10 (now Big 11) adds 1 more...than they would be Big 12 and the Big 12 with the loss of A&M and Nebraska would become the Big 10... Phew

So, now Baylor is playing like John McClane & trying to hang on for dear life- " The fly in the ointment...the monkey in the wrench...the pain in the azz...".
You can't blame them though- they'll likely be on the outside looking in once this plays out.

Perfect scenario is VTech and two of VA/Clemson/Miami go to SEC as well to get them to 16.

Big East members vote to dissolve conference.

old Big East football schools and remaining ACC schools form new 16 member conference. Renegotiate TV contract and get Madison Sq Garden for bball championship. They'll take us over the remaining bball onlies. Problems is we'll have to leave a couple football schools behind (TCU and USF).

Bball only schools form their own conference and/or keep the BE name, lose Mad Sq. Garden.

If SEC only takes VTech from ACC (as rumored), then we can get screwed pretty hard. ACC will then just raid BE for one more member (Pitt/Rutgers/UCONN/Cuse) instead of taking a more drastic action. In which case we have ~25% chance to end up in a stable conference. If we go we also lose Mad Sq. Garden forever.
