Texas high school football player trucks referee after being ejected

Sometimes, but not always. A whole department doesn't get fired because of the actions of one employee.
This is no different than a school not being allowed to go to a Bowl game or the NCAA tournament because one kid took money from a booster and had a major violation or something. So the entire team gets punished.

No different at all, the right decision was made here in Texas. They couldn't let that team play another game after this.

Life isn't always fair and that team just learned a valuable lesson about "teamwork" and life. And that is more important than a high school football game or season.

I think it is different, assuming what we saw is all that's going on. Like I said, if there are things we don't know about that point to a bad culture within the program, I'm fine with the decision. If this is isolated to this kid, I disagree with it.

Tell me the last time a whole team was prevented from going to a bowl game because a single player broke a NCAA rule. Teams sometimes get banned after the an investigation, if there are multiple rules violations. If it is one guy, he is suspended. If it is an incident like what happened here, he is suspended or kicked off the team.

This kid will be in jail probably in the next few years if he doesn't get his anger under control. I thought about going after a ref when we played Penn State in '81 but I knew I would miss my family dinner at Danzer's later that evening so my stomach won out over my rage.
For the corned beef, sure.

What happens here - sadly I think he plays next game or at least doesn't miss wrestling. Educational lessons thru sports are few and far between from the high school level down. Also reason 467 why nobody wants to ref.
he never plays high school football again. Shouldn't be able to play any other high school sport either. But football for sure is out.

I worked for a company where a guy stole 73 million dollars. This was a major company in this country. No one in the company got a bonus that year.

"“I’d like to say that I’m sorry for what happened to my coaches, my family and to the UIL,” Duron’s statement read."

I feel like someone is missing from that apology.

That definitely stood out to me also.

This guy is even worse. FAR worse. Despite the family not wanting to press abuse charges, the state is going ahead with it. Thank goodness. 9 years old.

This will make you want to beat this guy to a pulp.

The family not wanting to press abuse charges makes me almost as mad as the abuse itself.

His teammates? ;)

Yeah, my wife showed me that. The parents should be brought up on charges for not wanting to press charges.

They probably do the same thing to the boy at home if he messes up and don’t see anything wrong with it

What I would love to know is what exactly did the little boy do wrong that merited in that moron's eyes 2 shots to the head.

regarding the pop warner video my buddy grew up playing football in the hood of Pompano Beach, he tells me stories about this type of stuff not being too far off. Grabbing facemasks, screaming and cursing at 9 year olds until they cry etc. For anyone in middle class suburbia pressing charges seems pretty logical.

This 'coach' was actually a Sheriffs county employee in a detention center and was terminated from his job as well as being terminated from coaching in that pop warner league.

Dude, the grabbing of the facemasks and cursing at 9 year-olds happens in the suburbs too. I have plenty of experience with it. Even had a coach throw a full water bottle that hit a player OF THE OTHER TEAM!

yeah I know it does and that wasn't my point as that's mostly standard stock stuff. I can't speak for this town in Savannah, GA, but if this happened in Pompano Beach, FL there would be no charges pressed either. Now maybe charges wouldn't be pressed in a Texas suburb either but probably for different reasons.

When I was President of the youth football org, I had the gameday cops give a citation to a parent. I ended up getting sued! LOL
