I don't think it went off the rails. I think this is great for these players. This went off the rails so quick .
That is is, but for competing recruiting purposes nope. And this is just the opening bidI don't think it went off the rails. I think this is great for these players.
So Vinny can’t give a player a job washing dishes for 25k because that’s booster shenanigans, but the NIL collective can give a community service “job” for 25k? Bunch of crap and stupid people. This went off the rails so quick .
It's the stuff that has been happening all along. It's just come to light with NIL. In the 50/60s SU players would find $100 bills in their cleats in their lockers. This is where fairness in college football hits a hard stop, just stupid
college football with no salary cap, this sucks
the walk on’s getting paid keeps others from getting decent potential quality players that they won’t have to face by keeping them from going to an opponents team
At least they had to hide it…not that it matters anymore because only about 6-10 schools ever really have a chance…. no way for Cuse and a bunch of other schools to compete which sucks but has been known for a long time I guessIt's the stuff that has been happening all along. "Community service" is open to interpretation. I'd live to see them in the sheriff's roadside work patrol, picking up garbage and roadkill. But somehow, I think it means they play football for the local college team in the community. Is it really “Community Service” when you are getting paid $25,000 for it? What if they don’t do community service-They don’t get the money ?
With all due respect, that's ridiculous."Community service" is open to interpretation. I'd live to see them in the sheriff's roadside work patrol, picking up garbage and roadkill.
Vinny can just donate to the collective now. Much easier actually. So Vinny can’t give a player a job washing dishes for 25k because that’s booster shenanigans, but the NIL collective can give a community service “job” for 25k? Bunch of crap and stupid people.
I don't think it's that bleak for us.Not a news flash by any means but reinforcement that Syracuse will not be able to compete in the future landscape of college football. I knew the SEC and BIG football heavyweights were already out of our reach. Its the current middling P5 football programs, with big pocket alumni, jumping in to the arms race that will push us down even further. Once all of these collectives are fully funded in the South, we're screwed. TV money won't even matter at that point.
I am pro-athlete compensation so I have no problem with the payments on their face. However, its still sad to see the light at the end of the tunnel for Syracuse football and knowing that its a train bearing down.
I still hold out hope that big money will support Men's Basketball moving forward.
Not so fast...it shows lots of middle aged and older men made way too much money the last few decades and want to be Big Fan Boys. You can only buy so many homes, boats, trucks and ex-wives.I don't think it's that bleak for us.
These sorts of things really do shed a light on how out of whack the "compensation" student-athletes receive with a scholarship is relative to what the perceived value is that each player actually offers the school.

I know. It would be especially ridiculous if I were serious. With all due respect, that's ridiculous.
What’s not fair about it?Multiply that by 4 years and that’s a cool 10 million dollars. Holy Crap!
I’m still processing this and I think I like that the walk-ons get in on this, too…then I think, that’s a partial scholarship for them and that just doesn’t seem fair. Thoughts?
I’m not as optimistic about SU’s future in this world but obviously I hope you’re rightI don't think it's that bleak for us.

Understand that I am not against the kids in this case, but it is closer to the team being able to recruit 100 kids total, or be able to ignore the 25/year cap (with all its nuances). And it will, for this part of it anyway, be above board. So, it offers yet another in a long list of competitive advantages for these schools. That’s what doesn’t seem fair. Maybe I’m just whining or a bit naive. What’s your take? What’s not fair about it?
I think short time it could get painful, but I think this stuff will settle out.I’m not as optimistic about SU’s future in this world but obviously I hope you’re right
