As we know, some of these schools have donors with incredibly deep pockets and not afraid to give.

It’s not they they are afraid, they have obscene FU money to throw around.

"In 2024, Texas Tech signed a 10-year deal with Adidas to supply uniforms, shoes, and apparel for the school's athletics department. The deal is worth $59.25 million and includes marketing, athlete support, and rights fees."

So, $6M per year just to use Adidas stuff.

"Texas A&M athletics announced a new 15-year multimedia rights deal with Playfly Sports, according to a release from the department. The new contract is worth $515 million over the life of the deal and is fully guaranteed, Athletic Director Trev Alberts confirmed with KBTX."

A&M gets 30M+ per year for its multimedia rights.

There is more to revenue than what ESPN provides to SEC and ACC schools for TV... is Syracuse maximizing this??

I hadn't heard of Playfly until recently. Seems like they want to muscle in on Learfield but some of the early contracts seem like crazy overpayments?

Yep. Could be like Enron.

I hope Texas Tech is left out of the playoffs for the next 10 years. That would be hilariously beautiful
You want TTU to not succeed at the top level because you resent their doing their best to do just that? Do you see beauty in success that comes out of thin air?

I see a complete waste of money. Or put another way, when I see those kind of numbers thrown at a college football facility, I see priorities way out of line.

I just continue to see greed and people clawing for vicarious greatness at any cost as a never-ending downward spiral. The next school will now have to spend 350 million for the next facility, and so on.

Money ultimately wins championships here. At least that is what most believe. So more, more, and more. For what? A championship? At what cost? I hope Texas Tech loses every single game for spending like this, on things that are ultimately entertainment, and just absolute nonsense.

I have already stated many times before how I feel about NIL and paying athletes (ahem ...employees) directly. It has opened a Pandora's box that will continue to steal the souls of very talented young men and women, the schools that employ them, and the fan bases that follow them. That's the direction this goes

Like most college athletic facilities.

“ The project is largely funded through private fundraising and annual athletics department revenue streams, primarily from the sale of new premium inventory”
