If it doesn’t work that’s a terrible look for the new AD, who apparently hasn’t been aware of what fans have been talking about for 10 years now in needing a clean break.

I don’t blame new ADBB. He’s only been on the job a couple of weeks and it would have been very difficult for him to go against most of the fans, the administration and JB to pick an outsider. But I wish he would have.

There’s no universe where Syracuse basketball is ranked to start the season.

Then the NIL reports have been way overblown. There’s no universe where Syracuse spends $10-12 million+ on a roster and does not have a ranked squad to start the season.

I love GMac and he deserves a great job, but i can’t fathom how anyone can think this is the right hire? He should have got the job instead of Red, full stop. Hop should have taken over for JB according to plan, full stop. Unfortunately, neither happened and this is where we are because of it. Going back to the well of Boeheim players/coaches is not the answer. While this may look like the safe choice , something that was not needed in this case, it is by far the most risky. If it doesn’t work that’s a terrible look for the new AD, who apparently hasn’t been aware of what fans have been talking about for 10 years now in needing a clean break. Worst of all, if things go bad with Gerry, i don’t want to have a bad falling out after all that’s he’s done for the program.

If there is a bad falling out it's because Gerry didn't get the job done much like Red and nobody really feels bad for him. I have hope because Gerry has always been a winner.

Greetings. I am newer to this forum, not new to all this.

That said, I wish I could say I was excited by this, or that I was surprised. I will support the decision, and I am actually hopeful that ADBB leverages the hire to launch or increase an NILBB push at the announcement of the hire. Using this to push some of the hometown fans on a massive $44 NIL basketball drive could really give some of the people that said they wanted Gmac to put their money where there mouth is.

Good point. Honestly the more the roster turns over the better especially with so much to work with money wise.

Doty and Folefac can 100% play at this level. Moesch makes me nervous as he’s really small but he is definitely skilled. LOVE Folefac. I think he could probably be an ACC level starter at most ACC schools tbh. I’m fine with Doty coming here but off the bench. He’ll be a good 6th or 7th man.

Yeah, I was responding to someone who said there’s no universe where Syracuse is ranked to start the season. I don’t see how that’s the case if we have a war chest and bring in big $$$ players.

as someone who was very big on outside hire over Gmac, If it’s an “either or” scenario of taking Gmac as coach w/o Doty, or Doty w/o Gmac I’m taking GMAC HC every single time. If we have serious money to upgrade 1-7 or so I’d rather take someone over Doty. I’m a lot higher on GMAC’s coaching career long term than Doty playing here. 6th man type? Most definitely. folefac has future p5 starter written all over him however. I’d be concerned about moesch and would rather just take a seasoned portal guy instead.
