I think it will happen again sometime, but yeah losing by 20, not sure they'll ever lose that title. And let's be thankful Syracuse wasn't the first to do it.

One thing that probably does make it slightly more likely is the expansion of the field and the introduction of the play-in games. Before that the odds that the 16 seeds were just absolutelt putrid teams was probably meaningfully higher - it seemed like the 16 seeds were mostly 14-14 teams that got hit in conference tourneys. Expand that pool a bit and the absolute dregs get removed in the play-Ins. Both penn and (obviously) umbc seemed like decent teams.

They should've been playing a play-in winner. Glad they didn't.

UVA fans better get used to seeing highlights of the UMBC loss for the next 10 years. Every tourney they will show highlights of it. That happened when we were the first #2 to lose to a #15 seed. I hated it.
