That was a HUGE play and we got it by a foot. Credit ptg for keeping his legs moving. Why the shotgun though? And just curious, what is the weight of smith compared to gulley?

I guess so that the DB's have to respect the possibility of a pass and not crowd 10-11 in the box. Not an X's and O's guy, but that makes sense to this layman.

I think Gulley is listed at 192 and Smith is listed at 217.

That's understandable. Still, you can have the qb under center and have 3 wideouts in the game to keep the defense honest. The difference between shotgun handoffs and I formation handoffs is in the latter the back gets a running head start. That one second is critical.
