The 97 Yard Drive

The 97 yard drive late in the 3rd quarter was our high water mark for the game and it was a fun one. The game turned in the balance on the following two drives but Mahoney brought us back to within 7 and gave some hope that SU could actually win the game. The Mahoney pass from the endzone was incredible.

Tomcat declared the drive as being the turning point in the game whereby SU would follow it up with the winning score. (Sigh) He shouldn't have voiced that next to the Clemson coaching booth. It was a glorious moment and SU got a stop and a turnover on the following drive but couldn't get a first down. That was the moment that could have been, but what a drive...

Great drive! I seem to always remember these and the more methodical they are, the more beautiful they are. Nassib's drive against USF still resonates with me as the moment I finally felt confident in our team. It was wonderful! lol

Interesting that the big pass play was Ish down the seam over a LB in zone...and I say interesting because we seem to have avoided throwing the ball down the middle when at least 4 big pass plays have come in that area: Estime vs Wake and LSU, Ish vs CMU and Clemson.
