The ACC ain't great

Actually, the ACC made an additional $6 million because Clemson made the CFP. The $55 million base payout and the $27.5 million for the contracted Orange Bowl was being paid regardless of whether or not Clemson made the CFP.

However, the ACC repping in the CFP and winning Orange Bowls only helps solidified its place as a conference that belongs with the SEC and B1G instead of the 5th wheel afterthought it was when the CFP was in its planning stages.

Cheers,
Neil

College Football Playoff Payouts By Conference For 2016-17

It's funny, Bama fans are worried because they don't ever get tested as their OOC was destroyed by FSU not deciding to play football this year and their division being one of the worst in P5.
Exactly what good teams has Alabama played this year that makes everyone think they are so good?

FSU
Fresno State
Co State
Vanderbilt
Mississippi
A&M
Arkansas
Tennessee

Coming up:
LSU
MS State
Mercer
Auburn

Matter of fact, have they even played a team that deserved to be ranked??

I would argue that at this point they have the weakest resume in the top 10.

I honestly don't even care if an ACC team makes the playoff. Especially last year when people wanted an ACC team to represent the conference... Do you think when a team see's an ACC team in the playoff they think oh that makes Syracuse at 3-9 look ok?

Mind you it's a different year this year but just sayin. I am a Syracuse fan and if beating Clemson makes the ACC seem bad than I'll take it.
I want an ACC team in the playoff, but I want Syracuse to win every game that we play. Anyway, I don't see an ACC team being left out. Worst realistic case scenario, one of Miami and Clemson will be 12-1 w/ quality wins. That's will put a team in the playoffs.

College football as a whole is down this year. Alabama has played no one of note. Georgia is the best team in America.

They haven't played teams that are very good but they've destroyed their opponents which is what good teams do.

What’s good for the ACC is good for Syracuse. Beating a team that was just in the playoffs the year before is why we got so much press this year post-Clemson.

You absolutely want the teams we play every year to win all their games but one (impossible, but you get the idea). Same reason we root for ACC teams to win their bowl games. Perception means something in CFB... especially when network deals are so much money.

Florida State and Louisville both massively underperform.

Clemson loses to Syracuse.

Division leader NC State gets beat up by Notre Lame.

Miami a top 10 team that barely wins each week.

Not the year we expected out of the conference. Its like high-performance mediocrity bizarrely enough.
One man's "high-perfomance mediocrity", is another man's good old-fashioned parity.
When I watch other teams in other leagues, I don't feel so bad anymore. The ACC is a very strong conference, top to bottom.
At worst we're 3rd behind the B1G and SEC, but I submit the ACC is the deepest of all the conferences.

I realize that but I remember some on this board last year saying it might be better for us to lose to Clemson rather than beat them just to get them in the playoff...

Ridiculous. But yeah I agree with you.

That is ridiculous...
