The all-inclusive Rutgers dumpster fire thread...

Hopefully but not so sure about that. They should have just beaten Penn State and played them down to the wire in the fourth quarter. We just got our ass kicked at home against a one win team. Hate to say it but as of today they are a much better team then we are…
What is it about the difference between "brighter future" and "today" you don't get?

They ended the year in Run D vs FBS teams at 6.95 YPC, which was dead last nationally. It is 1.14 YPC worse than next to last. It was 1.55 YPC worse than SU. Had they been a full 2 yards better they would be ranked 115th. It was the worst YPC since 2018 and third worst in the last 10 seasons.

What is it exactly that you “get” that makes our future so “bright”…
Seriously?

I know you're new, but this has been discussed ad nauseum since before the season started. The schedule and recruiting are built for success next year.

If you don't believe it, fine. But If you don't think next year has the potential to be special, I don't know what to tell you.

They need to fix that and hire EROB as DC

ESPN piles on.

Trending down: Hope for Rutgers

Rutgers led Penn State 36-33 midway through the fourth quarter and appeared well on its way to bowl eligibility. But even in 2025, when Penn State misery would appear to be at its apex, it's impossible to outdo Rutgers for sheer football ineptitude.

Driving deep into Penn State territory looking to go up two scores, Athan Kaliakmanis fumbled, and Penn State's Amare Campbell recovered the ball and returned it 61 yards for a go-ahead touchdown.

Rutgers still had a chance, thanks largely to KJ Duff's miraculous one-handed grab on third-and-13, setting up another Scarlet Knights scoring chance.

Rutgers picked up 8 yards on first down but then went nowhere on three straight plays, turning the ball over on downs. Penn State ran out the clock on its ensuing drive, giving the Nittany Lions bowl eligibility and sending Rutgers home for another long offseason wearing track pants on a leather couch and rewatching the "Entourage" movie over and over.

We had a bad season but they did not loose their starting qb.
They did have to play in the B1G but their OC schedule was weak as usual. They got to play weaker teams minus OSU and Oregon and still could not get bowl eligible.
He does pull some good recruits but it’s hard to tell with the over evaluation on 247.

I know you are new to the board but if you do not see potential positives you clearly have not followed the team very long.
Yes the season sucked. Unfortunately for SU fans it is not atypical.
The difference is we have a top25 recruiting class coming in. In past years the team sucked and our classes were 55 to 65. That 25 ranking is with two kickers 83 and 81.
The university is investigating more into the program than ever before. We have more consultants and analysts and support staff than ever. Yes, we do not to make some coaching changes.
We have a brand new facility that will bring in more players.
Now I agree the season sucked but to say there are not positives is either short sighted, wearing blinders or a Rutgers fan trolling on anSU fan forum.

“I refuse to get into the ‘woe is me,’” Schiano said. “But we’ve been operating at a completely different level than the people we compete with. So really what we’ve done is almost miraculous.
Although it might seem it, this article is not a parody
Miraculous? I think it’s miraculous that in 2024, with the easiest schedule a P4 team can have, they went 7-6, and this year, with a clown car level OOC they couldn’t get to 6 wins. In that context, the shaved ape is a miracle worker!

I am more then concerned that Fran is a great salesman but a less then average coach. IF Angeli comes back serviceable we should have a better year. It just seems we are screwed without great QB play. Our schedule is very manageable in the ACC although many fans try to make it so tough always referring to our “brutal” schedule. Been a fan for many years(was at the ND game) and want success just tired of getting kicked in the teeth…

I see positives but am beaten down as a fan! Hope I am wrong about Fran as I am not sure he can win here. Great salesman/recruiter but feel we need a more experienced coach right now to have sustained success.

We would not get the same level of players with another coach.
Also Fran won last year but it fell apart after Steve went down this year. He is making necessary coaching changes. He demoted his best friend. He is making changes to win.
