The Athletic - Syracuse Recruiting...

Not sure there was much expertise there - expand your base beyond the NE, improve facilities, ...not real ground breaking. The Athletic article with a recruiting survey with the anonymous coaches offered more insight in my opinion.

Thought the Nebraska comp was interesting. Same issues with lack of local talent.

Really? They get 4 star oline often. Until Riley/Cav came in? Pelini had 7 years where he never won less than 9.

The quote along the lines of right now, like us they have to sell to kids multiple states away.

Ok. Last year they grabbed TEN 4 stars. They were good before Riley came in. Consistently top 25.

They've been making 4 stars look like 2 stars, but they recruit fairly well.

Is the article comparing programs? Because that is different. I think Bayside is referring to how the recruiting dynamics are similar. Nebraska do have to go outside the state.

Pretty spot on article, the comment about the pipeline into Chicago drying up was interesting. Definitely need to start getting more talent from Maryland/DMV area.

If you can read it that would be better, the whole thing gives the tiny part about Nebraska context.

I've been saying for years we've got to go hard after Ohio. They only have 1 P5 program in the whole state (OSU) and they recruit nationally. We used to get good talent from there.

lots and lots of great players from Ohio, def need someone with ties in the Buckeye State to assist with recruiting

That article was worth nothing. It was a national guy just guessing.

We had a pipeline to Chicago? McNabb & Chris Slayton are the only two guys I know of that became draft picks at SU in the last 30 years.

A lot of generalities and broad statements. No evaluation of individual recruits or the current recruiting class. Not good at all.

Can't read it, but thats why I started with OK. Dynamics may be similar, but they still managed ten 4 stars, last year. Program wise, they've had 1 winning season in 6 years. We've had 1 in 7 years.

Part of their recruiting is also that their history can get them those 4 stars. The program can change the recruiting dynamic. They may have to go out of state, but they can get them, where we cant.

We have at least 3 receivers that can run right past ACC defenses. We have Sean Tucker. We have excellent safeties, linebackers and corners.

Syracuse can recruit. Right now they can't recruit or develop QB's quick enough. The coordinators need another year being coordinators in the ACC and be given a Spring practice and complete Fall camp with the players they coach

No doubt they can get them. Dont think anyone will argue with that. They dont have the history of losing like us. Just like you said, Pelini never lost less than 9 games. SU has never had that type of stretch lol. That helps a lot with national perception and recruiting.

And from 1970 to 2001 they never won less than 9 games. (Damn! 'Bama has only managed 13 years) The last 6 years have not been kind to Nebraska. If we can put together a 31 year stretch like that? We'll be fine.. LOL!

We do? Who?

Was it Marrone who focused on recruiting cities and suburbs that had direct flights to SYR?
