The best plays in Syracuse football history

Jason Poles interception return for a TD against WVU in 1997. WVU was coming off a win against VT, and we smoked them 40-10 in a night game. For those who I know, that was our tailgate where Willy attended.

Remind Jason of that play if you ever meet him.

Great play by Poles and overall performance by Cuse in that one. I remember that game was on Halloween.

That same season, TeBucky Jones saved the season with an interception in the end zone that he returned for a TD late in the Tulane game. We were on the verge of blowing a 24-6 lead as it was now 24-19 and Tulane looked like they were going to score.

Not sure we would’ve recovered from losing to Tulane at home to fall to 1-4, after blowing a 24-6 lead. Considering the circumstances I think it would’ve been the worst loss in that entire era.

The Orangemen scored a touchdown with 10 seconds left and added the 2-point converstion to beat West Virginia, 32-31, and complete their first unbeaten regular season in 28 years.

Down by 31-24 with 1 minute 30 seconds left, Syracuse moved 64 yards on 7 plays, scoring on a 17-yard pass from Don McPherson to Pat Kelly. The Orangemen then sent the more than 49,000 fans at the Carrier Dome in a raucous, frenzied five minutes of uninterrupted celebrating after Michael Owens took an option pitchout from McPherson and barely scampered into the left corner of the end zone for the winning points.
copy and paste?

The G-Rob decision to punt on 3rd and 13. Brilliant!

I'm building a strong "troll" case on CousCuse. More evidence.
I think you are erroneous in your understanding what is the definition of internet troll is. I really hate to see you go through life like this.

Indeed. 1:21:00 mark

A great memory. Forgot about that bomb to Qadry at the end. The post game comment about the Berlin Wall and the railing both coming down was hilarious.

Dar Dar opening kickoff TD the last time Florida crossed the Mason-Dixon Line

And his reverse KOR against Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl - at a crucial moment when the Buffalos had grabbed some momentum.

That was a great moment.

The one where Troy Nunes did that thing...

Pitt in the Dome?

Tyree caught the ball in the endzone?

I think that sequence fully encapsulated the craziness/madness that Troy Nunes brought to the program.

Jason is such a humble guy that he won't really talk about it - he never mentions his playing career.

Quite a guy.

Doug womack playing the part of a mini me Lamar Jackson before lemar Jackson hurdling the defender on a td score that was linked here somewhere. Also Norley to schiano to ultimately beat Nebraska. Then of course Schwedes to Davis in the cotton bowl

Womack had some great moments that year.

Florida in the Dome?

Put me down for McPherson to Rob Moore on the first play against PSU in 1987. Ding dong the witch is dead!

Take your pick of Floyd's touchdowns against Gail Sayres' Kansas team.

Doesn't Floyd hold the record for longest punt return in SU history? That must have looked like something.

I am 100 percent sure the date of that game was 9-20-1997 because its the one home game I missed from 1992-2004 because I got married.

Though of another great play by a bad team the (oh my god I forgot the player) kickoff return at Louisville to answer their score 21-7 in the other GERG win of note.

Pick any one of 7 by Diamond Ferri against BC in '04.

SU played Siena in Albany in hoops at the same time of that football game. We went to the basketball game just assuming BC would stomp us and were in shock when we went to a sports bar to catch the very end and saw the score.

Was it Max Suter?
