Class of 2014 The Big Board

Based upon recent events/offers that have been happening i decided to draft a Big Board for 2014 to see where Syracuse at with uncommitted prospects. This is all based upon my own knowledge from following recruiting and no insider information with the school/coaches or prospects. This is only uncommitted prospects as i believe there is another thread with committed prospects. I cannot commit to updating this regularly due to time commitments but figure this gives us a picture in time. The bolded ones are the ones i would like Syracuse to get (my personal opinion).

DB - Micquell Cotton; Mike Johnson; Deion Hallmon; Cordell Hudson; Dominick Sanders; Tymashion Clemons; Juwan Dowels (very fluid and if Hallmon is still a circus then I like Hudson).

WR - Steve Ishmael

LB - Nile Sykes; Jawhaun Bentley; Justin Hughes; Demetrius Johnson (really like Bentley but with Cabinda still in the fold think we are only looking to take one more, IF we lose Cabinda and replace him with Bentley I would be happy).

DL - Thomas Holley; Chris Slayton; Zeek Rodney; Harold Landry; JUCO (if Holley is out (probable) then Rodney would slip into the bold, think Landry is a reach at this point).

OL - JUCO (not sure if we take another OL this class; not looking like any HS prospects at this time).

RB - Tommy Mister; Corey Holloway; Travis Lock (think if we don't flip Mister we may stand pat at RB)

QB - Alin Edouard (just can't pass on this type of talent even with what AJ has brought to the table)

Parting thought: We need to finish strong and this could be a special class in my opinion.

This weekend could be huge for pulling in 1-3 GA kids, Sanders, Hughes and Holloway. Here's to going down to Georgia, looking for a soul to steal, we may be in a bind...be a little bit behind....but GM is ready to make the deal! :)

There's a decent possibility that Hickey decides to move on to the NFL

I agree Passion, with his injury history, if he has a shot a being drafted in the 3rd-6th round range, I think he'd be very likely to go... He'll test off the charts at the combine...

Flemming could also come back after so many injuries.

As much as I think the kid deserves to come back, I'm not sure he can or will... Seems like he may be told to hang them up... Just couldn't stay healthy and it's a shame, had all the physical traits!

I think that if Flemming wants to come back and contribute that HCSS will welcome him with open arms. It's not in SS's dna to ditch a kid as dedicated and loyal as Flemming.

I have no doubt that both Smith and Hickey enter the draft after the season.

While he may want to come back I don't see how it's possible? If he has a torn ACL it would take 9-12 months to even get cleared to play. I have a feeling we have seen the last of Flemming, unfortunately the kid didn't catch a break his entire career

I love the post and summary. What really pisses me off about Holley up to this moment as our continuos failure at bringing in these top NY kids definitively and consistently. Holley seems to be just the latest apparent failure.Sure he hasn't committed to anyone yet but that it hasn't been to SU. If he comes it would be perhaps the most significant recruit in Shafer's tenure up to this point. Add to that the most critical considering who we lose in the DL to the NFL and graduation.Williams in some minds seems to be a huge (?).Raymon might be a factor but thats another cross your fingers and hope deal.

I understand that people want to get the big stars from NYC, but think back the last 5 years. How many of those players became all-americans? Pros? 4 year starters? All conference? That's not to say they did not have productive careers. But a lot of these kids want to play at big programs, we are not. They want to compete in conference/national championships, we cannot yet.

There have been rumblings in programs as of late of NYC talent being disgruntled at their present programs. Well, they are big kids who made a big decisions. Instead of coming to SU and starting as a freshman or RS freshman, they took their 4 stars and went to a big program. They sat their quietly behind the 5 star recruit who RSed the year before. They finally get into the rotation their RS junior year and maybe start their RS senior year. But, they have to share that rotation with the brand new 5 star who came in and is the next big "player".

They thank the 4 star recruit for their years of service and if they played their cards right, they might free agent into NFL, or go to Canada. If they played their cards right they got a degree and can get a job. (That ND piece of paper is tight!)

OR, they go back to NYC to all those people who told him that the big program is the best choice instead of Syracuse and maybe they can provide another great idea.

If these kids and their parents want to keep making that decision, they can. You have to wonder why they don't look at all the talent that has gone before them and asked, "hey what happen to so and so when they went to the big program"?

You can almost bank that they did not get the 4th team all-america team as Jay Bromley (the 2 star) by Phil Steele today.

If they don't want to come, find those that want to. A 4 star from Illinois is just as good as as a 4 star from NYC.

I don't think either goes and that dude from Clemson worked over hickey a few times. He's not ready.

He beat Hickey once. He is definitely ready. Plus he will probably turn out one of the best if not the best combine performances . I have little doubt he is gone and will go in the first 3 rounds. He is already projected by some as the 10th rated OT

Hickey handled Beasley easily. He is a great pass blocker and insanely strong. Selfishly, I'd love to see him stay but (barring injury) I think he's gone...and after 2 ACL surgeries, I wouldn't blame him one bit.

The ACL's injuries are just another reason why I believe he goes. He knows just how easily you can get injured. If that were to happen his RS SR season it could be devastating to his career. If he came back I would be completely (albeit pleasantly) surprised.

"that dude from Clemson" is an NFL caliber DE and Hickey did a phenomenal job. Beasley was quiet most of the game. Hickey's gone this year for sure.

Agree and I think Knapp will be a good one too. I saw Jason Emerich in the spring and was thought he looked good also. I still think next years depth will be ok with Miller and Lasker available as the top two backups.

Bumped for Edouard commitment. If we can continue to chip away it would be a very nice class. Get to 6 and a bowl and we could salvage the year and move forward. Is it just a dream?

Not a dream at all! Very Reasonable, After NC State I thought G Tech and Fla St. were the only 2 left we had no chance to win.

I believe that AAM is a true junior. Never redshirted
Thus why if they aren't going to highlight him this year as a goal line back they should be redshirting him THIS year. it seems foolish to use him in 8 plays the whole season in garbage time and lose the full year of eligibility.

That ship has sailed, he's already played in 2 games.

I love love love love the fact that Edouard has been quoted saying he talks to Steve Ishmael every day and is working on getting him to commit.

I agree those experiences i.e. ACL crap is enough to push him out and get a paycheck. BTW I think Pugh is doing very well for the Giants. Regardless of their record, from what I've seen when watching he has been solid and would think he gets moved o the left side of th OL next year. Maybe at the guard spot.ASs for Hickey going the replacement would seem to be Knapp or even Burton. Please someone beat our Robinson . Trudo is good for at least one penalty per game. I'm hoping Palmer steps up next year. Lasker maybe is a factor but its open for discussion.

Updated to add Denzel Ward to the board. Also, picture at LB should clear up in the next few weeks as Sykes is visiting Syracuse (this weekend) and ND (next weekend). Hoping we don't lose out on Bentley while we wait out Sykes and Thomas. Tricky game of recruiting at this point in time. Trust in the staff to close. Very exciting time in recruiting.

Would rather have Bentley than Thomas mainly because we aren't worrying if the kid's going to qualify.
