The Big Game

I hate Ohio State, so not them.

Plus Ohio State is probably going to be in that game for the next few years, so if we can get some sort of Buffalo Bills type streak going now, get this thing mental, then I say why not.

How about a tie? I know one has to win but I just cannot get excited about this game.

i cant route for oregon, no great love for osu but oregon is more what is wrong with college football than osu is.

I will be rooting for the game to be over by halftime so I can get a good sleep before work. Why won't they hold the championship game on a weekend?

People on this board constantly complain about sec boosters and fanatics pumping money into programs and making it hard to compete with those schools. Yet no school is worse for this then Oregon with Phil knight, not to mention how much sway nike has with recruits at the high school level.

So, who's everyone rooting for on Monday night?

I really want Oregon - if only to avoid hearing for an entire year how strong the Big 10 is.

Is there any way for both to lose?

I respect both programs, but shudder to think of the money both invest in their programs.

I worry that many schools including Syracuse University will find it more and more difficult to complete with these behemoths.

And that's part of the reason that I have always disliked the concept of college football playoffs.

They are nice for Mike and Mike and for TV viewing. But they are ultimately bad for most of the schools that field major football programs.

I wish it were not so, but it is.

An interesting viewpoint that I agree with but that very few discuss.

The rich are just going to get richer.

Huh? It's been this way, playoff or not for a long, long time.

What we need is a way to level the playing field; but the behemoths hold all the power too. So it will never happen.

Ohio State has their fair share of ridiculous boosters. Oregon has had a total of one top 10 recruiting class over the last decade. That class came in at #9. Even though they have great facilities and lots of $$, it's not on the same level of the Ohio State and SEC boosters who are shoveling $$ into the pockets of top 10 recruits.

I'll start out for Oregon but if they get more than 10 points up I'll switch sides. Hope to see a high scoring affair.

I'll be rooting for Oregon. I don't care that Ohio State beat Alabama, they still didn't deserve to be in the playoff. The beauty of college football is that the entire season is a playoff of sorts and the fact that they had a 2 touchdown home loss to a 6 loss team should have automatically disqualified them from the playoff.

That's garbage. We have the Melo Center thanks to Carmelo and Nike. We're not so worried about how other schools compete against our hoops if they have less resources.

Yeah, Oregon has resources, but you know what's right about the Ducks? They took those resources and innovated. They got an infusion of cash and used it to make a difference. It's a perfect blend.

A lot of schools don't have the resources, so they need to focus on innovation to get ahead. Oregon should be an example. Their resources accelerated their innovation, but they operate in a smarter way.

People are jealous of their resources, but they miss the big picture. I'm jealous that they come up with new and better ways to do things. Instead, we're like, hey, can we put another tight end on the field?

Gotta go with the Bucks. Good buddy is the FB SID and my god daughter played lax there.

The reason the Ducks are so good has little to do with any sort of recruiting advantage. It's due to perhaps the most innovative offense to come along in at least 20 years.

Which, BTW, serves as an equalizer against schools that recruit rings around them. Ducks all the way.
