The Big Ten should be embarrassed. ...

How many teams would you like to see? I'm personally a fan of eight -- I think anymore than that would water down the sacred college football regular season.

I had mentioned earlier above in this thread, I think it should have commenced at 8 after the BCS BS. Though, I'm not against going to 12 or even possibly 16, but 16 would be the max for sure. Maybe if it was 12, the top 4 teams get a first round bye? Watching Houston relatively have its way against FSU, who's to say if there was an actual true playoff that a team like Houston couldn't have knocked off an Oklahoma or MSU, etc.

Not to stir controversy but the analysts had a rules expert on air and he stated that the ball was not fumbleruskied, that the QB had control of the ball and that the QB never was down (no knee, elbow, back on the ground). Thus, the play was legal as the QB only pretended to fumble; trick play? Yes; deceptive? Legal? Yes.

I am no rules expert, just passing along what I heard in the game. I will defer to someone that knows the rules better than me.
There should be no controversy. I'm not sure what people are looking at (or not looking at) here. The ball was never out of the QB's hands. It was never out of his control. The QB's knees/elbows/etc. were never on the ground.

The QB faked the fumble and took advantage of the disruption in the secondary. Really, no different than play-action.

yeah i know he said that but by the rule book he is wrong.. you are allowed to down the ball anywhere on the field. that is why you cant do the fumble play that way anymore because it looks like you are downing the ball. when was the last time anyone actually stopped a play by downing the ball not in most people here's lifetime i suspect, that went away 70-80 years ago but you still can.

Again, I am no rules expert, but from what I heard, the QB did essentially what a WR or RB would do who was changing directions, slips and the ball or a hand touches the ground but not a knee, elbow or back, and the play continues. I watched the replay of the play and cannot see where anything happened to cause the play to end (based on my limited knowledge of the rules). All plays are either based on brute force (typical Alabama style) or deception (play action, triple option), this is really no different.

I will grant that this was a cheesy call considering Stanford was blanking Iowa at 28-0 before the play call and seemingly could have scored via other means as demonstrated by the score.

Only sorta for this thread (and board), but if Trump loses Iowa, the quotes will be great. "Oh who cares, they're losers. You all saw that Rose Bowl."

I don't think the World Series is fixed for 7 games and I don't believe the committee thinks about money or favors anybody.

But Oklahoma was the better team before the seedlings and DEFINITELY after the games were played. It was a confusing swap of seedings that the committee never really addressed in a way that one could say, "yeah, I get it." I'm not suggesting a conspiracy, but that flip-flop was certainly questionable.

Be interesting to see how Ohio State does today against Notre Dame. I think they had the most talent in the Big 10 but never could really get it together this year. As far as Notre Dame, I'm reading that DT Jarron Jones will probably play in the game after not playing all year. I'm probably missing something but why blow a whole year for the bowl game?
Does it count or is this his next year?

I hope Penn State keeps Franklin forever. He can't coach at all. Penn State hasn't fired a coach in more than half a century...they are going to be facing new territory as it becomes apparent he's not an answer.

Georgia is doing its part to prove your point. 17-3 at the half.

Be interesting to see which pro team takes a chance on him if he goes pro after this year. Seems like it's mainly going off high school hype because I've never been that impressed. That means of course, my Bills have him as the top QB on their board.
