I have no problem with running them, but we are just not very good at them. When we run them the guy getting the ball invariably ends up having to beat at least one, but most of the time two guys. Additionally our oline seems to be too slow to get out there and block. I noticed that whenever CMU threw a bubble screen the receiver had a nice cushion to play with, our guys have none. I think we are just real bad at disguising them which means we very rarely get good plays out of them.

Just. Stop. The. Bubble. Screen

It just takes too long when you fake a hand off then try to throw to the long side of the field. when the receivers don't go deep, the DBs come up and if the throw is delayed they are all over it.

If they look this rough vs CMU, how will it look vs FSU? At this stage I am almost liking us to go 3-1 in run-pass ratio vs FSU. And I think if we did, we'd be OK.

Bubble screens tend to get an OC fired in Orange Country.

Running plays on the short side of the field is a Syracuse tradition , first implemented by Frank Maloney...

A friend did refer to the McDonald short-side screen as the 21st century DeLeone short-side option.

But at least that coordinator made up for it with a ton of innovative and successful schemes.

It's either a poorly conceived play or a poorly executed play or it's being called at the wrong time.

Whatever it is, it isn't working.
