The Carmelo Anthony Challenge

I can't ever see Melo going to the Lakers only for the fact that I can't see him wanting to have Dantoni as the coach again.

PG - Damian Lillard - Can take scoring pressure off melo in late clock situations
SG - Avery Bradley - Can lock down best guard and doesn't need shots offensively
SF - Carmelo Anthony - Alpha scorer
PF - Serge Ibaka - no need to double the post, have helpside rim protector, can make a face up jumper and stretch defense some
C - Enes Kanter - rebounds his area, provides toughness, can score on low block

6th - Brandon Knight - combo who can score with 2nd unit and guard either 1's or 2's
7th - Boris Diaw - allows you to play inside out and space floor with shooters
8th - Andrew Nicholson - Stretch four who can score with 2 unit
9th - Steve Novak - specialist
10th - Will Barton - developmental guard with size, athleticism
11th - Quincy Miller - developmental forward with length, skill set
12th - Aaron Gray - 6 fouls, team guy

Ok, I worked a little too hard on this and checked all their salaries to make sure that this team's salaries would be below what the Heat currently have (81 million)

PG: Chris Paul
SG: Arron Afflalo
SF: Harrison Barnes
PF: Carmelo Anthony
C: Joakim Noah

You got 2.5 guys that can create their own shot (CP3, Melo, and 1/2 credit to Afflalo), 4/5 that are above average to elite defenders (Melo the only exception), 4/5 that can set teammates up (CP3, Afflalo, Melo, and Noah), and this is a team that can switch everything because Barnes, Melo, and Noah can all handle guards in the event of a mismatch here and there.

Bench:
Ersan Ilyasova (struggling so far this year, but he's proven himself to be possibly the best stretch 4 in the NBA the past couple years in terms of being able to both shoot and rebound, and he allows Melo to move to SF at times)
Reggie Jackson (can play next to CP3 or Afflalo and give you a lot of energy and a scoring spark off the bench)
Giannis Antetokounmpo (cheap since he's in the first year of his rookie contract, and he can play anywhere from SG to PF and defend anywhere from PG to PF, would be a great glue guy even though he's still raw)
Miles Plumlee (love the way he's played for Phoenix so far this year, would be a great backup big man)
PJ Tucker (super-cheap and a solid defender that would play SF)
Jodie Meeks (gives you another shooter off the bench)
DaJuan Coleman (every team needs that one guy that would keep everyone pumped up on the bench!)

If he's not on the same team as Lebron, Durant or PGSS, this is an exercise in futility and stupidity, cuz a title ain't happening.

Durant is freaking incredible right now. Has my MVP vote right now

I think Michael Carter-Williams may end up having a better/more-successful career than Carmelo. Kid is good.

Construct an NBA team that Carmelo could win an NBA title with.
Put him on Houston, they win the title. Well once Kevin Durant cools off.
Tell you, Durant is every bit LeBron, just in a very different way.
He is a once in a lifetime player.
Give him 4 more years without a title though and he will start getting the
Peyton Manning, Wilt, Melo treatment. It is ironic , basketball is the one sport that one player can most exert his influence over the outcome, but we are talking about needing the right grouping of pieces to win titles.

if melo can't build a team around him he will never be in manning wilt and durants level he only made the final four once(well in the nba key word) never the final two.
