The case for keeping Red

Here's the case I'd keep Red in...

The only reason to keep Red one more year is to decrease the buyout even more and have a ton additional monies to hire next coach. Potentially bigger catch.
Am I missing something? How big is his buyout? Why on EARTH would we give a first time head coach alumnus hire a huge buyout?

The team is 12-6, not 6-12. They have two bad but close losses, one very good win and a great effort vs Houston. Let the season play out and see where we end up in March.
You need to travel back to December when anybody cared about the Tennessee win.

We have two horrible losses. Most of our wins are against bottom feeders. We beat a decent ten team that is falling apart. Apparently someone told Barnes it was march.

If some super donor is committing some insane amount of money so Cuse can buy a dream team, but Red has to coach, he can stay. We’ll be so good, it doesn’t matter who is coaching.

I can't believe his buyout would be that high for a first time, alum, continuity hire head coach. He hadn't proven anything to have all of the money guaranteed on the contract, just silly this is even brought up for this AAU level coach.

Win the next 7 in a row and you might have an argument. Evidence over 2.5 yrs, odds and slim margin of error are working against that outcome. In the spirit of the thread it’s at least a partial answer to the question.

Agree but you and I both know all too well that Cuse holds the purse strings very tightly. We are cheap and squeak with every tweak

At this point they need to avoid additional bad losses and win two of the three matchups with UNC/Duke. This is not happening so season is over.
