The Coach's Show

he said in the PC he needs to do a better job of making teams stop something before they switch out of calling it. i would like to think that Ryan has some control over the runs though and changing the gap on the fly.

It's frustrating to see him saying this now though. We've been saying it for years.

yeah - I didn't like that answer either - there was a reason you ran the play to the side where it succeeded the first time - keep doing it until they stop it

This is why we haven't tried a flea flicker since the Kansas State game. Everyone has film on it, so they're expecting it every down.

Have we? Comparing the scripted first drives of the game vs the unscripted first drives of the 2nd half:

The 6 drives to start the game we have 130 yards and 10 points.

The 6 drives to start the 2nd half we have 338 yards and 14 points.
I'm not sure they've used the scripted drive until the Minny game, which started on a bad note

I love historical stuff and I found this documentary on Tennessee's most famous coach, General Robert Neyland on U-Tube:

I fought the section that begings at the 26 minute, 30 second mark, (you can go there by clicking on the line that becomes red as the show goes along- click just past the center point), interesting. Neyland refused Lindsay Nelson's request, (he was their radio voice at the time), to do a radio show because he felt that if he explained too much about the game the fans would get too knowledgeable and then he'd be in trouble.

The whole thing is worth watching if you like college football history. Here's some background on Neyland:
