Based on the install for the piece we saw on the Lawrinson cam today, I'm now inferring that the pattern of the PTFE currently installed was so that they could stand on pieces while installing others. This should now allow them to easily install the pieces between the current rows.

I think your correct. I noticed the same pattern. Smart planning.

I have seen videos where they take like a 15x15 ft pc of PTFE and drive a car onto it and it doesn't even stretch. It is made to hold literally several tons of weight per panel.
