My favorite play in the game yesterday came near the end when Marquette was attempting a comeback. With the shot clock running down, Southerland hit a hotly contested 3 from the corner. Any energy that Marquette may have had was totally dissipated by that shot. That is when I said, "It's over."

Yep, and poetic justice is that it seems that Marquette has hit 10 shots exactly like that against us in recent years. I remember the 2011 game at Marquette, I think they hit something like 4 threes with less than 5 on the shot clock late in the 2nd half.

Me too. There was a microscopic chance up until that point but after that the fat lady sung. Would love to know the origin of that one...

Agreed - any tiny tinge of doubt still sitting in the pit of my stomach was erased when that went in. I also may have set my personal record for vertical leap at that moment.

There was a probably hardly noticeable moment that sealed it for me.

Marquette had been passing the ball around fairly smoothly. We were looking like the keystone cops. I expected the dreaded Louisville treatment at any moment. Then we may have hit some shots or, or had some steals, or whatever, but Gardner got the ball at the top of the 3 point line. He shuffled his feet, looking right and left, not knowing who to pass to. When he, of all people, looked rattled, I knew they were toast.

Same for me. They looked like they just had no clue anymore.

yep that was the final nail. The earlier nail was the Fair steal and JS lay in and foul. I felt like that lady in the video OE posted!

That's when Jimmy cracked a smile too if you noticed when the cameras cut to the bench...good times:D
I saw that. I thought I saw a tiny little head shake, too.

I was at that game. The prayer late-shot-clock shots they hit were beyond ridiculous.
(not to mention the ones they hit in the tourney that year)
Payback, indeed.

Was waiting for an "onions!" from Raf, but it never came.

That shot was poetic justice.

James looked extrememly confident when the shot went up. Looked more comfortable then some of his other set shots. A true NBA caliber shot. 6.8 leaning three pointer wow.

He didn't say onions, but I believe he said something like "its over" after it went in. I didn't catch it at first, but replayed the shot and heard him say something like that.

I exclaimed "We're going to win!" while jumping up and down... And got glares of death from the other 15 Syracuse fans around me.
