The Dino Babers Show - before FSU

UCLA. A&M. Are the two schools that could potentially offer DB.
At this point i dont believe he will be offered by either but if he is he will leave.

Marrone didn’t like the recruiting part of CFB and began to really hate it more than he thought. There’s nothing wrong with him thinking this was his dream job, after all it is the college he played for. There’s also nothing wrong with him becoming disillusioned with a particular job and deciding to go in a different direction. He definitely left in kind of a crappy way, how it ended up all playing out but that happens often in CFB.

There’s still way too much whining about that whole period of time. The time he was here brought a lot of hope for the future which hadn’t been true for a long time.

DB has never said any of the things you’d expect a head coach to say if he was intending to definitively stay here for a long time. In the very least he could say something like, I have a contract that runs until... and that’s the job I’ve signed up for. In the very least you’d think he could say that.

I will not be surprised if he stays here for a long time and I won’t be surprised if he bolts for a more lucrative job. That’s what coaches do. Everyone thinking SU has all these advantages that other college teams don’t for keeping Babers are crazy and drinking way too much kool aid. I don’t recall anyone beating our doors down when Marrone or Shafer left/fired.

The one thing that gives me hope he’ll be here for at least a few more years. The $ he’s spending to do renovations to his house. That’s the only thing that makes me think we have him for at least 2-3 more years

Matter of fact there were coaches that wouldn't even talk to us and'or asked for ridiculous terms to even talk to SU.

Frost being one of them...

Babers is the guy, they better do everything in their power to keep him.

I agree, we need to keep him any means necessary. I just keep reading these threads about “why would he leave” and “this is the perfect job for him”. Coaches leave all the time what fans and the casual observer think is the perfect situation.

I guess the key is to not be surprised.

DB has one goal to win a NC. the SEC still has alabama, the fans are crazy and he now knows he can compete and he isnt close to the talent on the full roster that he wants and expects. how long does he want to coach.. if he waits 2-3 more years and gets to 60 does he want to go full on rebuild again and how much of his staff stays in place that long to wait as well? my hope is he stays 4-5-6 yrs and then we can promote from within with a system that is humming on offense.

what happens if he stays and the OCs leaves, who runs the show then? you cant just plug anyone in and run this offense.

I thought DB ran the offense. Isn't that why there are "co-offensive coordinators"?
