The Douger goes bunker

You go to SU football practice to learn about the game??????????

I do the same. I've learned an unbelievable amount about it from attending just a few practices.

I don't hhave a problem with this either way, it there open and people like to attend then great, if they are closed it's Marrone's call and BFD, get over it. I don't think it's a big deal, it's spring practice

There is no use practicing any "new" offense if your not going to use it in a game. Or if your waiting to use it for a bowl game that you may or may not get to. So if we are in fact "practicing" new schemes it seems like a complete waste of time. Just practice the stuff your actually going to call in the games months from now.
To quote Marv Levy, you're dead wrong. Offense is changing. Jump off the bandwagon now if you'd like.

Please, I've been on the bandwagon a lot longer than you have. Every year we hear about a new offensive this and players doing that and it's never replicated in a game. I'm taking a different approach this year and I'm going to temper the enthusiasm for "changes" that are happening until I actually see these things occuring in a game.

All I'm saying is the last 3 years we haven't really changed much, but this fall will be a bit more exciting.

I'm not usually the negative type on these things. I support the program and I've almost always support DM on this board, when I thought the criticism was unfair. My ONLY point is that I've heard this so many times I've just become desensitized to it. I always get excited for these things and they don't seem to happen. I'm just taking a more wait and see approach this year so I don't get that kick in the nuts feeling.

I don't doubt you at all, I know you have good info. I just would rather play it cool, get excited a little bit about how practices are going, and get real excited during the games when I'm seeing new wrinkles and different ways of attacking.

Doug has closed practice until further notice. I pray we dont have any more Upper and Lower injuries. Close ranks and rally the troops its Bunker time on the hill.
Don't shoot until you see the color of their helmets.
MY point was that it wont help read the post
spies and Drones who will tell the world how bad these players are before we see it up close after paying for tickets or the television rights are sold.

Doug must be feeling the pressure. His press release on why practice has been closed is strange at best. I mean come on he is worried about being miss labeled by others? What i dont get is this. For a guy who is supposed to be so organized why did he announce a schedule and than change it. Why didnt we have a recruiting round up? I hope that Doug can learn to enjoy what he is doing. Closing a few spring practices isnt going to make any difference in how this season plays out. I mean it is almost comical.

It's not an overhaul, Marrone said, but people will notice schematic differences on both sides of the ball and in special teams.

Marrone said part of the reason he's closing several more sessions is that he doesn't want labels being put on things that might be more experimental than permanent.

Spring is the time for R&D. Hard to conduct secret experiments in front of the public's prying eyes.

Well if your going to criticize DM for his explanation of why the practices are closed, I guess you would also criticize the process of writing The Constitution.
