- Cal State Northridge beat LeMoyne 97-75 and Drexel beat Colgate 73-56. We beat Lemoyne 86-82 and Colgate 74-72. Thus we are 18 points worse than Cal State Northridge and 15 points worse that Drexel. That’s not what we were looking for.

- Defense is about staying in front of people. So is offensive line play. So we know what it looks like when we don’t. Coach Autry said that a lot of what people are complaining about comes from the accelerated pace at which we are playing. That’s doesn’t explain why we had 2 fast break points and Colgate had 22.

- In two games we’ve have 31 offensive rebounds and 20 second chance points.

- We are also 24 for 39 (61.5%) from the line, including three consecutive 1 and 1s in the last 23 seconds of this game by Jyare Davis, who hit 81% at Delaware last year, and Lucas Taylor, who hit 79% at Georgia State last year.

- Donnie Freeman has a superstar body with a “How should I know: I just got here” brain. Ask Brnet Axe said, he just doesn’t know where he’s supposed to be when he’s out there. He’s also 6 for 19 from the field and 1 for 6 from the arc. One of the those Newhouse kids who appears on ESPN Syracuse after Orange Nation predicted he’d average 25 points a game this year. Donnie isn’t Benny Williams but he’s not Kevin Durant yet either.

- Jaquan Carlos looked like a million bucks vs. Clarion with 14 points10 assists 3 rebounds and 3 steals. He’s scored 7 points in the three games since. He does have 11 rebounds, (impressive for his size) and 17 assists. But he just doesn’t seem like much of a presence out there. And, despite being his conference’s defensive player of the year last year, he’s had trouble guarding people at this level. He may not be the answer for us at point guard.

- JJ Starling can score and he does have 9 rebounds and 6 assists in the two games. But he’s not really a point guard and he’s not a good defensive player. He fouled out in this game, something that shooting guards almost never do. Fouls are often the product of getting beaten on defense and reaching to make up for it. Carlos and Starling don’t give us much of a barrier out front.

- Kyle Cuffe may be #0 for a reason. He’s played 3+minutes so far and has no stats. You don’t know he’s out there.
