- We are a valiant team when down by double figures, which makes it double vexing when we have a 5-26 run that turns a 32-23 lead into a 37-49 deficit. That stretch lasted an excruciating 10 minutes and 30 seconds, during which we missed 10 of 12 shots and had 4 turnovers.

- Tyler Lydon may be our best defensive center and a good rebounder but his offensive game has disappeared. Tonight he was 3 for 11 and scored 7 points. The first score came with 8:41 left and the score 38-51.

- John Gillon was awful. He got a couple of late scores but wound up with 7 points on 2 for 10 shooting and 1 for 7 from the arc. He had 6 assists but 5 turnovers including a couple of ill-conceived alley-oops and a Tyler Roberson-like between the legs bobble he gave up on. I realize he’s not going to have another game like the one in Raleigh but this was quite a come-down.

- Our three point game overall has been in decline. During the five game winning streak we were 50 for 118, ((42.4%). In the three game losing streak we are 22 for 84, ((26.2%). They’ve all been close games so that’s more than enough to be the difference.

- We’ve been able to overcome shooting woes by getting to the line but in this game we only got there 12 times and missed 5 of them. Some of that was the refs, who let things go until late in the game. But a big part of it was that we didn’t seem to know how to attack their zone and kept passing the ball around outside until we settled for long jump shots. We got off only 12 field goal attempts in that 10 minutes and 30 seconds. We attempted 30 treys to their 12 and got out-scored in the paint 26-40.

- We couldn’t handle Ben Lammers, their supposedly injured center, who had 23 points, 7 rebounds, 7 blocks and 3 steals. .

- We also couldn’t handle Tadric Jackson who was 8 for 15 from the field and scored 20 points. If we’d had one player who shot the ball as well, we’d have won.

- We are a 16-12 team dreaming of somehow making it into the NCAAs- with games against Duke and Louisville coming up. Dreaming certainly seems to be the right word.

the graphic they threw up late about us trailing double digits in so many recent games was a little unnerving

It made me think of Stephen Wright's famous joke: "You know those indestructible black boxes they put on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that?"

You know what we do to make those comebacks? Why don't we do that the whole game?

easy answer. we lack the depth ,rotation and coaching philosophy to pressure full court all game.
